Sorry to hear that. I appreciate you may realise the measures you didn't take but it's probably a good time for a recap on general pointers to prevent others suffering the same fate.
Advice on most aspects of SA is now available on this thread and, unlike the closed thread, isn't that onerous to go through. Therefore,
it's a good idea for SDs to read through this whole thread to prevent making some basic errors (wasting lots of time or having shit experiences or at worst being scammed) and the rest of us repeating ourselves many times.
1)
Be wary of profiles with no clear picture of themselves even in private. Profiles which only have one photo of a pair of legs, not even theirs, are particularly suspicious. At best they're timewasters not serious about arrangements and at worst, like this case, they're scammers.
2)
Don't meet a stranger for the 1st time in your own home.Have a M&G in a public place which enables you to suss them out and also see if there is chemistry. No allowance of course. This will put off many scammers, particularly if you are having a standalone M&G with an intimate meet at a later date; they just can't be bothered to spend time doing this.
If you are planning on moving on to intimacy on the same day, then use a hotel, not your own home. This is a good idea for a 1st intimate meet anyway.
And finallly...

NEVER, EVER PAY UPFRONT. It's been said countless times on these threads and will be said countless more. It's worth making this clear during initial messages so the girl knows where you stand and avoids any awkwardness on the day. It is also likely to put off many scammers.
