Not holding myself out as an expert - just my tuppence. I don't think there is a stock answer to this, because everybody makes their own assessment and manages their own risk. The only stupid thing would be to do something you're not comfortable with. Some people will use public photos because it's not a big deal to them. You mention your job - for all we know, you could be a Cabinet Minister. If posting public photos could ruin your life, don't do it.

Personally, I have an unidentifiable silhouette as my public photo. Then I have some clear photos which are kept private. I find this works for me and I'm comfortable with this.

I don't reckon having only private photos is that limiting. It's true that a lot of women will want to know what you look like, but this gives them an option to find out, without leaving you totally exposed.

I also believe the financial aspect trumps photos. How rich/willing to spend are you? If you put net worth £[X]million and have a decent write up (perhaps mentioning your job/special need for privacy), I bet you'd still get plenty of interest without photos.

First of all, I suggest you read through these pages (this and the national open SA thread) because there is a lot of great advice on here and that question has been answered a few times. It means you can get the answers and also saves guys time rewritting the same info.

To repeat what has been said before: yes people will do different things but virtually everyone would agree that you shouldn't use a public photo that clearly identifies yourself, for obvious reasons of protecting your anonymity. i use a torso photo of myself in a suit and tie, cropped at the head.

Having some sort of publicly viewable photo rather than just the default silhouette will significantly increase your chances of getting attention. Having clear photos of yourself in private gallery will also significantly improve your chances of continuing the convo and getting her on to WA.

Yes, some guys manage to persuade a girl to stay interested and even meet if they don't share a photo, but these are ordinary girls, not WGs, and they generally want to see what you look like and check you're genuine, just as you do with them. It's all about increasing your chances.

Up to everyone how they run their profiles but why wouldnt you want to use the search function to find the types of girls you are interested in and contact them. Much more likely to get girls you want that way than hoping one you like happens to contact you. In my experience Ive had much more success with girls I contact first than the other way around
