Yeah we'll give you that one, it was in county Durham until 1974 but part of Gateshead now.

Read the context of the thread, we are listing places that could be classed as 'South Gateshead' how does you posting about Gateshead add to that. Gateshead is Gateshead, north south east or west.

Prior to 1974 Birtley was part of county Durham therefore it didn't qualify as part of SOUTH GATESHEAD, now it does. Gateshead has always been Gateshead so always qualified as part of GATESHEAD.

I've tried to explain it as simply as I can for the thick twats who are getting involved.

Can you clarify it then, where is the South Gateshead you refer to, nobody else seems to have heard of it. South Gateshead is a definitive description of a specific place, like South Gosforth for example.

Apart form that you could always try and make some kind of useful contribution to the site instead of tying to give orders.

I lived in what was probably the most southern part of Gateshead growing up and never heard it described as South Gateshead
