no Pakistani I've met in real life accepts being called Indian
Yes, there is a bit of a syndrome of some sort here - it probably has a name. Whilst Pakistani's/Bangladeshi's will have a fit at
being called an Indian, they are quite happy to use the Indian tag when commercial interests are at stake. For example,
'Indian restaurants' in the country are almost exclusively run by Pakistani's/Bangladeshi's. This is a marketing ploy starting
from the 80's when Indian restaurants were very popular and the whole concept of an Indian place stirred up positive feelings
within the (mainly) white customers of the empire, the old colonial days, G&T's on the veranda, and restaurants had names
like "The Raj", "Jewel in the Crown" , "Maharaja" etc. All very quaint and dandy. The restaurants wouldn't have been quite
as successful if they openly called themselves "Pakistani restaurants".
I've come across other Pakistani WG's who use the term "Indian" in their profile place.
It's just a marketing thing.
