Hello all,

Quick question: I’ve got 3 weeks off in July and I was thinking about going to Bangkok and Pattaya. Now I’ve read that it’s rainy season but will it be a total wash out?

I know it would be better to go in December/January time but work sadly won’t allow it

Thanks in advance

Yes its rainy season but the worst is usually Sept/Oct. You say BKK and Pattaya so maybe not too bothered about travelling? The rain is as heavy as you've ever seen but often only for an hour or less. Great fun sitting in a bar with a beer looking out on everyone else. Dont let it put you off. Get yourself over here 😀

Don't know if it helps but I've been in July but went to Samui, phuket and phi phi. Samui and phi phi was sunny with the odd afternoon shower

Ditto above posts - odd downpours but don't be put off by that. Everyone tries to hide indoors when it rains so just gets cosier lol

Last year or so there have been more storms in north and south but again it really makes no odds to the places to you've mentioned - just sit in a place with a good friendly view  :wackogirl:

Hi, only been to Thailand once and was told what an idiot I was for booking end of May into July as it was Rainy ☔ Season. Well I had last laugh as weather was magic and at the limit of what I could cope with heat wise. Rain??? Mostly in evening, fabulous thunder and lightning, but not once spoiled my hol.  :drinks:

So work has gone and stuffed me and thrown my original July date out of the window. But luckily I have some time in October!

Flights and hotels booked.

1 week in Pattaya and 1 in Bangkok.

Details to follow upon return

I was in Pattaya for 10 days at the end of last September into October and the weather was spectacular. Very hot and sultry days interspersed with some extremely potent thunderstorms. One in particular was as powerful as any storm I have seen in Thailand, thoroughly entertaining to watch with a few beers in hand!
