Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but...… it's a total waste of time so far as punting is concerned! I was there in January - a lifelong bucket-list pilgrimage to Auschwitz finally ticked off, but given my "shattered" mental state after the visit got talking to my cabbie/guide for the day on the journey back to see who/where he would recommend I find "company" for the evening...… he explained that (1) it is extremely dangerous to go into any of the "clubs" that tout all over the centre as you "will" be drugged/robbed/roughed up once they twig you don't speak Russian/Romanian and are perceived as a rich/stupid/drunk Brit (2) Most of the profiles on the two main sites are either fake (B&S) or will ignore a UK mobile, so you'd need a local SIM card and need to speak either German/Polish etc to encourage a booking - he suggested that I either take the train to Warsaw for the evening, or I just try my luck in the bars to try to pick up a student who wants to earn some extra money...…. as I didn't really fancy the train back and forth the same night, I thought I'd ignore his advice initially - only to find that indeed the girls on the websites either didn't answer, or just flat refused to see me or jabbered away in Polish.... I was tempted by the clubs, but just didn't have a good feeling about them when it came to it..... so belatedly I took the advice and tried to pull under my own steam. I'd recommend the Irish pubs - the Irish Arms & Duffy's were great - long story short I did pull, but only to the extent of a snog and a fumble with a local Pole in her early 30's (not bad seeing as I'm 60), who was keen that we met up the next evening - which may or may not have lead to something, I suspect it would have with a cash expectation - but as I was flying home the next day it wasn't to be. Still have her number as she wants me to go back sometime. Probably very unlikely, though it is a beautiful city!
