One man in Glasgow told a Times reporter: “You can move to my place and share the same bed with me.”

In the Scotland section of t.o.l. Not sure if the same situation exists in England. Have fantasised about doing this !

Inside Out on BBC covered it also a few months back in the Bristol area with girls being offered cheap or zero rent accomodation in return for sexual favours.

The law has changed now

Remember this getting exposed on that Jeremy Kyle TV show in 2019.....not sure why he is getting convicted nearly 2 years later. Probably was still continuing to do it.....

Thats interesting theyve changed the law specifically for this.
So reading the cps guidelines - paying rent with sex equates to prostitution, and therefore an offending landlord can get done with "Causing or controlling prostitution for gain".
And furthermore you can potentially get done with ‘incitement’ or ‘attempted incitement’ just by putting an Advert in craigslist.
As i understand it "gain" has conventionally related to pimps making financial gain of prostitutes and prostitution , in the case of landords the gain would just be sex.
By that logic just putting an advert in craigslist advertising for p4p would technically be causing prostition for gain.  :unknown:

Reads like twisting words to fit somebody's agenda.

This may be a silly question. But had an argument with some mates about this... what is the difference between what this dude has done versus  kerb crawling? Why is he being taken to CPS Magistrates court? I thought it was just a fine? you could argue that 'inciting' and approaching a girl on street is same thing? Is there a chance this guy could do jail time? I ask as I have been considering going to a brothel and really scared could face similar consequences.....

Thats how, in priniciple, i ended up with the 2nd Missus!

It would have been cheaper to have done time compared to the Divorce payout:(

I don't see the difference between this and sugar daddies. The girl gets something of monetary value and the guy gets a service.

Ironically banning this probably hurts women more, because now they'd have less disposable income and would be struggling even more.

Because to some it is exploitative and there is a so called power inbalance. 2 consenting adults come to an agreement on something even with sex part of the deal that is their business imo.

I get that there will be men who will take things too far and so forth. If you want to protect women also make "laws" to protect men also.

There's been numerous news reports on this emerging 'practice', especially in London.

There's even a porn genre of it.

I might be wrong but I would say the key here is the word controlling

She would effectively be under his control by being resident in his home and relying on him for her welfare, he could demand payments whenever he pleased unless there was some sort of contract to decide how much sex constitutes payment, once a month, week, day etc

That in itself is controlling but its a minefield to go into this kind of arrangement, legalities aside the potential for it to turning rape allegations down the line is huge.
