plenty of hotels from £12 to £20 for 2 people for the night .  i was staying in a 5 star hotel but booked a 4 star room only in center of town for £17 each night for 2 guests .

i still cant get over how cheap it is to punt in turkey , and the girls are young 18 to 25 mainly .  even some speak a little english . only bad point is they never have rubbers with them and are fine witth bareback . if you go turkey make sure you take rubbers with you . roll on end of may im there for 1 week and plan to punt each night .

I’ve only passed through and only tried the trash place just across the bridge (off to the right after a a short walk). Open air, with several lean-to places beyond the heavily guarded gate, each with unappetising skanks beckoning (might have been better at a busy time, this was during the day). I didn’t see anything that attracted me so left. Didn’t notice any guns but the guys on the door were what I’d call ‘dishonest thugs’ — i.e. they tried to extract money from me anyway with an increasingly threatening attitude so I didn’t stay around to argue. Good to know there is a more normal scene though clearly not for the unwary.
