How much do you enjoy your minimum wage job? You're happy to work for £8 an hour. What if the minimum wage is abolished and your employer decides that you're overpaid, and he gradually decreases your compensation? To £4 per hour? Or £2? How much cash would it require for you to go down on a random woman? More than £70, right?.
On the other side of the market, the "reservation price" is the highest amount that a specific person is willing to pay for a specific good or service. Say, a restaurant meal: if you're earning minimum wage, the occasional trip to Nando's ought to be within your budget. The £120 tasting menu at Alain Ducasse, unfortunately not. Your "reservation price" for a meal, therefore, is somewhere between that range. When the highest price point a buyer is willing to pay is lesser than the lowest price point a seller is willing to accept, then no transaction will occur.
Does this mean fine dining is beyond the reach of the average worker? Yes. Does it mean that the rich ought to start boycotting everything that is beyond the reach of the "average man", whatever that means? Of course not. That's just silly.
If we went "on strike", that wouldn't change prices by much -- there would just be fewer escorts in the market because the reservation wage still remains. At some point during a price decrease, a WG is going to say, "I'd rather work minimum wage than suck dick for less than X per hour", and deactivates her profile.
You are somewhat reluctant to part with £70; but clearly, you have decided that the pleasure you gain from a half hour with an escort outweighs the cost of a day of labor. So, it is not "too much". Your reservation price is clearly higher than the escort's reservation wage. If you thought it was too much, you shouldn't have paid her at all. But the onus is on you and you alone; you are an adult and you ought to be capable of making economic decisions.
At the same time, other punters are also adults who are capable of making economic decisions. Some punters are willing to shell out as much as £350 per hour. I wouldn't pay that much for a shag, but it is their money and their decision to make. Keep that in mind, OP.
