If I've seen a prossie once she will know a few things, including:
1) I'm genuine
2) I'm polite
3) I'm hygienic
She does not know this about a new punter who she has never seen.
Therefore, surely it is in her interests to offer an incentive for me to return, even after only one punt? Does it ever happen though? Not for me.
Or maybe I'm not as polite or hygienic as I thought
Good point, but most of them don't really understand about price elasticity, yield management, and so on, and think that 'discount' is a dirty word.
There's one girl I saw a few times a while back, who charged a little more than the going rate. But she was terrific and I sort of didn't mind. I suggested a £20-£40 drop might ensure more frequent re-visits from me, and more business for her generally but she wasn't having it. Insisted her differential was necessary, and said she never offers discounts to anyone, ever. All while moaning about the lack of calls.
Vanity getting in the way of common sense, if you ask me.
There's another one who I've seen intermittently since something like 2006, and though her rates have gone up a little since then, she keeps the old rates the same for me, and presumably for other longtime clients. Now THAT's good business sense.
