Will be visiting Lille a few times before Xmas.

The French are good at creating laws and then adept at ignoring them.
A shrug of the shoulders and " Je ne sais pas"

A good example is the law that says every adult in a vehicle has to have two breathalysers.
You are breaking the law if you don't have one but as yet they haven't decided what the penalty is.

Hop across the border to Belgium (about 20 mins). Brussels is an hour away.

Another "Hop across the border" vote. I'd head for Acanthus near Kortrijk on a Friday or Monday night. Swinger club rather than punting den but plenty of full on action.

€110 Friday €90 Monday gets you in, unlimited food and drink ( within reason ).

On the N50 between Kortrijk and the venue on your way you'll pass about a dozen "Clubs" if you really want to go for the punting option.
