Author Topic: Are WGs less interested in January?  (Read 6275 times)

Been checking out reviews of WG's who are well recoommended. When i phone them they dont sound like their very keen. Also Parissa at HOD who has tons of good reviews seemed unhappy and moaned at me over a few things. I wounder if its because they've had a break and arent in the mood to start the year as prossies.

Yes. I have found it difficult to get back in to work mode. January is quiet and when it's quiet in any job it makes you sluggish. When a few hours pass with no calls you can get very tired, more tired than when it's busy.

January normally a quiet month but this year more than normal. Even the pubs and shops are dead.

Also, when it's quiet ladies tend to just go out and do other things like the pub or shopping and by the time you have called them they have probably already given up for that day. When I have quiet days I do end up not in the mood and write the whole day off. This only applies to guys who may ring at the last minute after I have decided to call it a day.

Then there's the Xmas and New Year break. I was out drinking every night since then and the other day I put my foot down and said to myself to stop and that Christmas is over.

And it's cold.

i've been the same this past week. not so busy as usual so when i've had a few hours without a booking i get a bit sluggish and tired from doing nothing. I think it's like that with any job though, try not to show it though aha ;)

Personally if I was very quiet I would make even more effort to be extra polite and cheerful on the phone to try and drum up business.  If you are quiet you don't start moaning at those who do ring you as it just does not make any sense.
Be it quiet or busy or even if you have a bloody headache you should be polite on the phone (unless it is one of the usual suspect who ring for 'fun').  One stroppy phone call can lose you business and this seems to defeat the whole idea of having your number out there in the first place.

As for getting bored in between bookings why not buy a piece of gym equipment.  I have and it keeps me busy.  Get a kindle so you can read.  I never get bored at work as I have made sure I have plenty to do in the quiet periods plus there is always steam cleaning to be done (buy a steam cleaner it will give you hours of fun I steam clean everything all the time).

How about trying out some exercise then? Keep fit rather than slouching around

Makes a change from the usual wipe round the cock with a wet wipe but I imagine it smarts a bit :D

At least they are then squeaky clean

seriously though I bought one of those 5-1 steam cleaners and use it on everything from the bathroom, to curtains and carpets.  It keeps the work flat smelling lovely and fresh and at least I know it cannot be any cleaner without being completely sterilised

Yawn. Why post (twice) about your steam cleaner?  :dash:

Try offering two for one etc? That's what most businesses do. And by that I don't necessarily mean threesome, but more of two hours for the price of one?

I know it would entice me.

i'm not complaining from lack of business, i make more money than necessary. i'm just a very active person so i like to be doing something ALL the time, as i dont like to be too far from my working apartment on work days i generally spend my work time there so during quite afternoons not doing much I get quite restless... client feedback has already said about deals and i do these usually in Jan anyway which draws clients in anyway.

I think the TS was asking guys what their experience was, not asking for all WGs on the forum to complain how bored and non-busy their in January. This is not SAAFE, for fucks sake. Normally I'd support some WGs expressing opinion but this chitter-chatter and complaints is to be had on SAAFE IMO... Nothing personal.

But... I have seen you guys say that SAAFE is a terrible place for us WG's to post, and that we'd benefit more from this board where we'll get honest, non-fluffy input from punters instead of clueless "advice" from other WG's.

Also, the OP asked what was up with WGs in January. It would seem to me that WGs would be best able to answer the question.

The prossies who have replied (including yourself) have not answered the question and have instead filled the thread with inane chitchat, including two posts about a steam cleaner  :dash:

You are really upset about that steam cleaner!

I think the first WG to reply to the thread did answer the question, according to her own experience.

None of the men have actually answered the question, either. I'm not really sure how anyone could really answer the question.

However, I guess my answer is:

Perhaps the OP has just happened to call a couple of WGs who are not in very good moods. Perhaps the post-holiday slump and the dark grim winter blues have gotten quite a few people in a funk. It is statistically likely that any given person you call right now will be less chipper than they were a month ago, due to the time of year.

As for myself, I am just as happy to take a booking as ever. I expect it to be slower right now and I am just making an effort to not stress about it. If anything, I probably need to be careful to not sound overly eager, as that could come across as desperation.

I used to have a cleaning company. Professionals generally don't rate those steam cleaners very highly. That said, the ladies on mums net think they're the dog's balls.

I just wouldn't expect them to do all the things promised in informercials.

No, I can't, as I've never really used one. I've tried out some that my clients had and they were all OK-ish. I just know that none of the professionals I knew who got one ended up using it very much professionally.

I really wouldn't use them on carpets. All they do is put hot steam onto a surface. Heat and moisture may be the opposite of what you want to deal with a particular soil or fibre.

For carpets, you at least want something that extracts the moisture and soil via suction. A proper carpet cleaner is good for that. Professional carpet cleaners will tell you that ONLY their machines are any good, and I do think those Bissel/Vax things are pretty crap. But the machine you rent the supermarket (Rug Doctor) are actually pretty good.

Nobody can be parsed in January. Last week was dreadful at work!!

I saw a demo of a steam cleaner once that made out it it took all the effort out of ironing shirts. Any truth that, seeing as my Missus doesn't seem to realise thats her role in life.

JustSomeWG

  • Guest
Steamers are useful for getting wrinkles out of fabric. Clothing stores use them to get creases out of clothes before putting them on the racks. But they won't make a shirt look as if it's been ironed.

Did you get your missus a nice new steam-generating iron for Christmas? Wives love those sorts of gifts!  ;)

It would be interesting to hear of any seasonal variation Punters experience, I only know how I work so don't know how it is from the other side and with other SPs.

My Mrs has a steam cleaner. She's impressed.

On the original topic, £150 or whtever someones usual amount is, is the same value in January as it is in every other month, if not more, having splashed a fortune on presents and xmas excess. Being a bit slow shouldnt affect the experience once the clock starts ticking. If it does, then simply I will never ever return.

Hi guys,
So first time steam cleaner here. I was looking through the tinternet for a decent steam cleaner when I stumbled upon this. It's amazing what gem of an info board can be untangled from within such innocuous cyber threads.

Don't think you'd use a steam cleaner on carpets, they'd shrink,  the person who said they used it on their carpet now has a rug!

I would think any WG worth seeing is definitely interested, whatever the month. Prossies have Xmas bills to pay too.

Again, ladies, you all seemed to jump to the defence of this prossie and her 'steam cleaning'.

Perhaps you all (well, not all, I read some posts as being tongue in cheek) need to turn the blinkers off when you think a 'lady' is posting  :hi:

I have a monthly punting budget and spend [but don't exceed] it every month of the year.  It wouldn't matter to me whether it's January or July.

Not bought a steam cleaner for a while, had a bad experience with this one I got from Romania a while back - the spec looked good, it said it did everything I wanted and was only £80 so I thought 'why not'.

When I got it though it looked nothing like the one in the advert  :scare:

The instructions weren't in English and I had to make it go where I wanted.it didn't have a suck function and barely even got wet.

To be honest it looked like it had been used and returned before.

Bloody EE's, I'll go British if I get the itch again
