Author Topic: Do you stereotype an area when choosing punt  (Read 1508 times)

Offline billabong

HI all

Exactly as the title states... I dont want to offend anyone who might live in any areas mentioned but when choosing a punt I often skip past the rougher areas of the north east.

Walker
Cowgate
Felling
Kenton bar
"Sunderland"

Could be me being a prick but I associate cleanliness and the experience with where the punt is.

Am i alone in this?

Offline Mansell

I do the same, also avoid know Rom areas.

Makes no difference to me, I go where the prossie I want to see is. The only thing I avoid or am a bit wary about is an area or postcode with a reputation for bait and switch, NE4 on VivaStreet being an example, that's to do with prossies available though, not the area they're in.

There's a few places an awful lot rougher than the ones you mention.

Wonder why NE4 is such a renound area for this? I didn't realise it had a focal postcode.

What areas are rougher than the ones I mentioned ? For punting Or just generally ?

I suspect it's because there is a plentiful supply of cheap short term let properties.

NE4 is renowned for bait and switch because reports suggest a lot of prossies who do it advertise as working in that area and it's a postcode to be wary of for that reason.   :unknown:

You can't really generalise on whole areas, for instance the majority of the likes of Forest Hall, Longbenton and North Shields are nice areas but specific parts do, in general, have a reputation for being quite rough. I know it used to be the case that the council didn't class some areas as a 'fair offer' to people on the housing list and they could be refused without penalty.

Whether or not any escorts operate from those rougher areas I don't know it's up to us to do our research.

Offline roboeggman

Generally the west end of Darlington(Mowden) is the 'posh' end, though this isn't true for the most part IME. Almost every Rom will use DL3 - Mowden for their VS ads even though I know for a fact there's plenty of them in Eastbourne.

I sort of associate Middlesbrough with shit punts since aw shows that it's rife with Rom barebackers. Never been though so I know it's not really a fair assumption.

I always see the availability of one agency lass who looks fantastic but then she only offers incalls in Cramlington and I the only thing I know about that place is External Link/Members Only.

I'm always put off by Middlesbrough. Used to work nearby and remember the drugged up street walkers. This is probably unfair but I associate the Boro with a lot of drug use and just find the whole idea off-putting.

The premise of an area being renowned for bait and switch seems to be based on the accessible low rent market and cheap housing in that area. Which means by that thought process you would avoid similar low income areas?

This is my point surely lower end areas are just worse for punting.

Once again you're generalising and that's a thing you can't do in this game, by your theory the more a prossie charges the better the service, but another thing that just isn't true.

Do your research on the one you want to see and that should include researching the area she's based in. If she's genuine but in a rough area then look at the area and decide if it's worth you going, research the safe parking or even avoid going in the dark if it's that bad. In my opinion discounting an escort based purely on her location is a big mistake.

This whole hobby has risks, it's up to each individual to decide which are acceptable and which aren't.

I have seen some gems over the years in what you may call the rough areas I have also seen girls in seemingly nice areas but once past the clean modern facade it's been a tip inside. So it's the girl not the area IMO. As has been mentioned do your research and if not happy look elsewhere. :hi:

Does not bother me at all, one of my favourites usually works from Felling. Also seen some great girls in the Byker area. Might just be a bit wary of Bensham but that is just because of past warnings.

I thought you generalised the ne4 area? I'm ok with generalising if it makes me feel comfortable when going to a certain area.

I was just curious if others also discounted certain areas whne punting.

Not answering for him, but I got the impression that what he’s trying to say, which is the same way I look at it, is not to write off an area but just be more thorough with checking out who you’re interested in if they’re working from that area.

I’ve no problems with 3 of the 5 places you’ve mentioned. In fact I’ve had seen some cracking girls in Sunderland & Walker/surrounding “shitholes” and other supposed rubbish areas over the years. Only Cowgate and Kenton Bar from your list that I’ve never seen anyone at, but I wouldn’t ignore it.

For me, that’s why it’s important to speak to the girl and get a feel for whether she’s legit as the working location, for most, is just a means to an end. The experience is what happens inside the room, not the kerb appeal of the property.

Do I write in a foreign language, what part of "NE4 is renowned for bait and switch because reports suggest a lot of prossies who do it advertise as working in that area and it's a postcode to be wary of for that reason" is generalising the area, it's stating a fact backed up by the reports I've read.   :unknown:

No foreign language used. You generalised NE4.. if your doing it based on fact then great. But a sweeping statement is a generalisation. I dont get why your being defensive over me saying that? And asking if your speaking a foreign language is being defensive before you ask where you were defensive.

I appreciate your contribution to the thread of the NE4 information I did not know that. So I will avoid the GENERAL area of NE4  ;)

Can't really be arsed to argue with the pedantic amongst us who fail to grasp the most simple statements, but if you read my post again it does not generalise the NE4 area.

Do you not understand the words 'it's not the area they're in'. At no point have I said NE4 in general is a dodgy area, I've said that particular area contains dodgy prossies and therefore requires a bit more due diligence.

You on the other hand have made sweeping statements that certain areas are generally dodgy, which is not the case. Only particular parts of the areas you mention are in any way dodgy, not the whole area.

By your logic can you explain to me why one or two areas of the NE12 postcode are up to £100 dearer for car insurance than the rest, it's all NE12 so should all be the same right??? The same will apply to every area you mentioned in your original OP.

Car insurance is based on more factors. Do you have a driveway? Any reports of incidents in your particular street? What type car? Your occupation.... so I'm not sure it's just one area is 100 more than another in ne4... bit of a generalisation that DM

And you mentioned NE4 and did not specify certain areas.

Furthermore the areas I mentioned have no nice parts. Yes I generalised but I'm ok with that. You don't seem to be.

And for someone who can't be arsed to argue you wrote a lot of words in response and asked for a response from me which would indicate you wanted to argue? Or is that just me being pedantic...

In fairness you don't need to respond someone else will do it for you if you leave it a little while.

Just shows how much notice you take of what I post, the car insurance was NE12 not NE4.  You are not being pedantic now, just ignorant, have a look on the internet and see what a rhetorical question is as my 'question' to you was just that.

If an advert on VivaStreet states they are based in the NE4 area of Newcastle it's quite difficult for anyone reading that advert to pinpoint exactly which part they are in hence the statement a lot of dodgy prossies operate in that area. Not as you would like to twist it as NE4 being generally dodgy.

I don't need anyone to post on my behalf, I'm quite happy to play along with you until I get bored.    :hi:

If you want to have a narrow minded prejudiced view of a given area based on misconceptions that's your choice.

So in your last post I am misinformed. Prejudice, narrow minded, pedantic, and don't understand what rhetorical means?.... and you honestly don't think you make sweeping statements based on very little information.

You take such offence in frankly a childish way towards people who may or may not slightly mis judge what you say. I am happy to say your a bit of a prick now based on your previous post, i think you know your a prick. Unlike you I do what I say I'll do and I am now not interested in arguing with someone who flip flops around his own statements and loves to argue for sake of arguing.

You've now provided nothing to this thread as your retracting your NE4 sweeping statement from earlier, looking at other threads you've commented on id say you've done the same and reduced them to tit for tat arguments between you and another member... Don't know how you can be arsed to keep up with the current disagreements your currently involved in.

I won't be responding to your next post which you'll be poised to type no doubt.

We'll leave it there then, no doubt others will form their own opinions on the matter.

Offline datwabbit

I do have ideas about areas and prossies group in certain types of areas based on affordability to rent and their safety. I suppose some want to convey an image.

I'm not bothered about getting mugged though whenever I read about a mugging I check where it is. I'm more bothered about my car getting broken into.

Offline SBM

For me, it's not so much that I stereotype areas based on whether they're new or old, shiny or shit-holes, or anything like that, but more that I base my views of them on my experience of punts in the area previously.

Sadly, pretty much every punt in Boro is now met with trepidation, just because the last four or five I've had there have been pretty bloody dire and I now regard the whole place as a dead-space on the punting front, although I know that there are still good punts to be had.  Conversely, I see Darlington quite warmly because I've not actually had a bad experience there, irrespective of whether that was in a terraced house on a pretty grubby street or a shiny new apartment.

For me, I wouldn't really rule any area out, although if I ever got to the point where I'm heading for a punt and feel unsafe in an area for any reason, I'll bail, but that ain't happened yet and hopefully I won't.

Not really an answer to the original question, I know!
