to be honest never really used it there to find girls mainly due to language issues- to some extent I was taking the piss when I said it
however.......its fair to say its the way most of the girls around chinatown seem to communicate, I've had several who've wanted to stay in contact post-punt and its always through WeChat
I have a feeling that if/when AW and VS get shut down, WeChat and similar programs are going to be the way forward for punting.

What I've not mastered is the English > Mandarin translation required to use WeChat to find girls. I know its possible: I've seen it done, but never worked out how

I've used Wechat in Singapore and HK with success, but there seems to be few people using the nearby option on it in Manchester.

As for Adultwork shutting down well never say never, but punting is illegal in the US unlike here. So, very different circumstances.
