What economic downturn is that then? Salaries are increasing, the is a million plus job vacancies and food outlets are closing because they cannot get stock quick enough or the staff to prepare it, inflation is at manageable levels and the bounce back has been far quicker than imagined.
If I wanted to I could walk into a 50k a year plus job and pocket a grand for doing so, but I cannot be arsed. All after before tax of course.
Those behind the vaccine roll out and the decision making will get no thanks though
Hmmm, i didnt know things were so rosey...
What sector are salaries increasing?
And the only reason there are vacancies is because people got laid off in the first place..hence the economic downturn, if you got your initial job back i would understand what you meant but where once the market was brutal its actually gotten worse for the position that are your first choice, especially for those in more experienced and senior positions cause now more people are after those spots that are open
i am actually interested in which sectors have salaries across the board on the rise (ahead of inflation) cause i am not seeing that in the finance sector for people ALREADY in employment. No the increase is for the roles that are open due to redundancies and sacking ...now companies are trying to get the best candidates by bidding more for them. The problem in the grass roots level is that there are more people applying for roles and also there arent actually that many roles C1 classification and above out there. certainly not as many as your comment about millions of available jobs being open. Plus the fact that you said you could "walk into a 50k+ job right now" shows that your perspective maybe probably doesn't reflect most of the people out of work. I dont think that's what the jobless are looking forward to when they are trying to get work
..also i think the salaries are on the rise because low income jobs have not only been lost but in a lot of cases the role has been made redundant and not necessary (not until the company gets back on their feet),...with less of the low income jobs being counted towards the average ..the average wage is naturally going to go up. Once these low paying, lower classification jobs come back the salaries i would imagine would regress to the pre-pandemic mean
I will give you that the economy is recovering a lot faster than anticipated.
