Depends where you want to go and if it snows again tonight. Main roads are clear at the minute.

I got from north of Newcastle to Gateshead yesterday for a punt and it was 5 minutes quicker than normal. (Without a 4 x 4)

As of now the main roads are clear and you’ll be fine on the side roads in a 4x4.

It’s different out of the cities and (in case you were tempted) I wouldn’t stray too far out of town.

A19 both South and North of Tyne today has been bad 20car involved in 1 incident

That was due to snow blowing off the fields and onto the road, there's been a couple of roads closed around Seghill / Seaton Delaval for the same reason.

A690 Durham Road inbound closed due to snow between A19 / B1286 City Way (Herrington Interchange) and A182 Hillside Way / B1404 Lake Road. Traffic is coping well. Due to large amounts of snow on the verge at risk of an avalanche. Reports that there is no exit off the A19 onto the A690. Diversion: North on A19 from A690 to the A183, then west on the A183 to the A182
