That would be even harder to keep up with than The Valkyries - your balls would drop off in the attempt!

Then you love a little wild one, and she brings you only sorrow.

How true that is!  :D

Or 'Hey Nineteen' for the middle aged  punters who like the younger WGs but struggle to find any common interests with them

Offline bedhedred

On a more sombre note, these Dan lyrics also remind me of WGs

"I guess only women in cages can stand
This kind of night
I guess only women in cages
Can play down
The things they lose"

"Street life, you can run away from time
Street life, for a nickel, for a dime
Street life, but you better not get old
Street life, or you're gonna feel the cold
There's always love for sale
A grown up fairy tale
Prince charming always smiles
Behind a silver spoon
And if you keep it young
Your song is always sung
Your love will pay your way
Beneath the silver moon"

But that wouldn`t be a proper punt, they`d just be courteously obliging a female fan.

No i don't mean groupies, they weren't always successful musicians, maybe in their pre success days they indulged?  :unknown:

I googled it: no direct claims that SD liked to punt.

But, of "Josie" they said this:

"The song’s subject is the neighbourhood party girl (or whore?) who can never say no, and the boys are rejoicing her return."

And again:
"Many people considered My Old School to be the best song on Countdown To Ecstasy, and it soon appeared on 45, backed by a bittersweet tale about a New Orleans whore, Pearl of the Quarter."

Oops, this is the problem when you haven't got the album out and actually played it for years, instead you use some 'digital medium' where you lose touch a little with the albumness  .

[/quote]

Talking about the albumness. I recall this response to one of my reviews....

Mystery Achievement!  :D

I went back to the album. Not listened to it in decades... This song is brilliant, with some fairly relevant lyrics

The Grace Jones version of Private Life is fantastic as is the album it's on, 'Nightclubbing'
Pull Up To My Bumper could be relevant for certain sexual postions.

Great song! More upbeat than Private Life.

I can imagine a WG saying to me:
"You asked me for advice I said use the door
But you're still clinging to somebody you deplore"

I think you mean Steam Radio.

Flanagan & Allen? How fucking old are you?!  :scare:

It wasn`t steam radio, it was direct current electric, and I had to take the accumulator along to the village garage every Saturday morning to have it charged for the week because our village was on alternating current.

Very popular song then - a rabbit pie was a very acceptable addition to the wartime meat ration (about 2 oz per week each) and most of the boys in the village (including me) spent a lot of time setting rabbit traps in the local wood (not awfully successfully, I must admit)

I should think all villages were on AC, I don't think there's ever been a DC mains supply (although I don't go as far back as Victorian times)?

Were you originally from the village though, or were you evaporated during the war?  :D

I salute your vintage though sir  :hi:.

A tad intemperate, surely, ww?

I'm sure Happylad's already told us in other threads that he's 89.
At my young age - by comparison - I can remember listening to Flanagan & Allen on the Light Programme in the 1950s.

Surprised that no-one has mentioned Lola by the Kinks for a punt where they got more than they bargained for

I would probably have been evaporated if the bomb the Luftwaffe dropped on my home had been incendiary, but as it was High Explosive I was simply blown up (along with the house and everyone in it) so what was left of my family moved from a DC Electricity Supply area (of which there were quite a few in  the 1930s and until after WW2) to an AC one 20 miles away. When my father was given a new (second hand) radio by one of our former neighbours he didn`t appreciate the difference.

Ah, the industrial, angular guitar of Andy Gill.

Cuts through solid steel like a hot knife through butter.

:drinks: I've no idea WW; you seem to know your retro music, ...I just know this song strikes a chord for me, if you can pardon the intended pun.

Perhaps one day I'll get round to a bit of role play with 'I love a man in a uniform' playing on my burner phone, that later song from the early 80s was sooo mean't for raunchy sub/dom do you not think; "Time with my girl I spent it well, I had to be strong for my woman"..."I need an order shoot, shoot".

The Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp (O.C Smith version)

"Oh the path was deep and wide from footsteps leading to our cabin,
Above the door there burned a scarlet lamp.
And late at night a hand would knock
And there would stand a stranger.
I'm the son of Hickory Holler's tramp."

More amusingly, I heard the nursery rhyme "Have you seen the muffin man" today.

I am amazed this tune hasnt been mentioned so far. Possibly one of the most explicitly sexual songs ever

Khia - my neck my back

As if this werent sexual enough I have the pleasant memories of seeing a pole dancer sliding up and down a greasy pole in time to this tune at the white horse strip pub (now sadly turned into a hipster cocktail bar/ restaurant). That was a great pub while it lasted.

Talking about the battle of the currents which  took place in Amurica there was a DC supply in Cambridge off the generating station in Thompsons lane which was 200 volts DC and that lasted up to the early 1970's!.

The original supplier was the shop of messers Bailey Grundy and Barrett in St Marys passage they started a small system which grew and then when that wasnt enough they moved to Thomposon lane as it was next to  the river and easy to get the coal there. That sort of thing was prevalent in many areas of the UK local generating firms untill the coming of the national grid when it all moved to the 240 volt 50 C/ps or Hz system we know today!.

The orignal generator of Dynamo as DC machines were termd is in the science machine IIRC:) It wasn that big in those days lights were the main load and the odd ladies vibrator;)

Six Underground by Sneaker Pimps. It's literally a prostitute singing about her working life. Also a bit of a modern classic if I do say so myself.

Just avoid the poppy version with some guy going "a one-two, a one-two, a one-two" over the top. Stick to the original.
