How are you ever going to possibly know when things have "cleared" up? Just show up, pay your money and stay away from the politics and you should be fine.

I agree/understand what you mean. Currently no free time for punting. Also have a few indies on HL to go through. Will see agency girls, when time comes. As someone mentioned here, the girls are mostly good. Like you say, should stay away from the politics and just enjoy.
