Hi

I notice a few girls are using Motel One in Edinburgh.

Has anyone visited? Care to share any potential difficulties in accessing said place?

The one next to Waverley is excellent if you're brave about walking by reception.

Yeah. It was the reception part I was worried about. So you'd need to be pretty brazen then?

Thanks for that, Lily. X

Yeah when you walk in the main area is big, but to get to the lifts you have to go up the stairs and reception is right there and there's the lift on the left. So yeah I think "look like you're supposed to be here" hat on-if you get me. Night time is probably easier. X

I'll give it a miss and stick with apartments.

Thanks again, Lily. X

I agree. These situations do not do anything to ease whatever nerves a punter may have. I for one, like an easy, stress free route to my destination ( no pun intended).....

Yip

I often think I look suspicious enough when I'm wandering around looking for an address let alone in a hotel lobby. In the latter someone is more likely to ask if they can help!!  :scare:

My trick is stick your phone to your ear & pretend to be in deep converastion. Walk right by reception and in lift, give them a nod if they make eye contact but they wont bother you if they think they may disturb you.....hasnt failed me yet....!

The phone trick is always useful.

Hi all, long time lurker and follower of advice and recommendations from here but this is my first post.
Recently had my first appointment at this very hotel - for all the years I've done this it's always been to flats or the saunas.

I agree with the description of the entrance - I was there in the afternoon though, and it was busy enough to walk by reception looking as though I was supposed to be there. Another thing to note about this hotel is it's an absolute rabbit warren inside as it's a modern conversion of what  used to be various different businesses and i got absolutely lost trying to find the room I was going to so I was more nervous wandering aimlessly around thi hotel than trying to scoot past reception  :)

I think I'd still prefer a private flat but to be fair, it was fine here

I've been to the one above the Apple Store, you go in just round the corner. Doors open until 11pm, straight into a small foyer as you go in, with the lifts right in front of you and the stairs on the right. Reception is on the first floor, so you bypass it in the lifts up to the rooms. Great for the nervous punter. Or if you're looking for added discretion.

The other one at the back of Waverley is a lot more exposed. From memory, there are two ways in, but the main doors take you through a kind of sitting/bar/restaurant area then up to reception, which you need to walk past to get to the lifts.

When doing an in call to a hotel, I just confidently strut past reception like I'm supposed to be there.

The one above Apple is the mutts nuts though, ideal for discretion.

Forgot there were two Motel Ones in Edinburgh - to clarify - in my post I was referring to the one at the back of Waverley Station, on Market Street

That's the one I was referring to in my OP. 👍

They're both close to Waverley station.

The Apple Store one is on princess street on the opposite side of the road from the Waverley steps.

The market street one is out the back of the station at the junction with Cockburn street.

Apple Store one is much better for the reasons I noted above. I've seen 3 girls in there and 1 in the market st one, who I'd also seen at Apple Store one, which she indicated she much preferred.

Hey CaptainQ
Welcome out of the shadows.
As it was your first hotel escort encounter, why not stick up your first review

Its put me off a potential punt a couple of times as it is so central, no where at all to park the car without spennding another more than 10 quid

That's rip off Embra for you.
They don't want you, just your money.

The car park at Waverley station is free for 40 minutes. If you get your card/ticket in the machine (in the station) before the 40 minutes is up then it's free. Can just about get in and out for a 39 minute punt at one of the motel one's that are the subject of this very tread. Also serves the council buildings on east market street, hence the subsidised parking rates.

Then £7.50 for up to 3 hours.

Accessed from New Street, between Carlton Road and East Market Street.

Parking in central Edinburgh is never either a joy or a pleasure. Fucking pisspoor, actually. Embra cooncillors Who are reading, take note...
Anyway, about Motel One; the Princes St one is, as Cactus says, punting paradise for discretion, with the lift taking you from the entrance to the floors while bypassing reception entirely. Rooms are fine too in contrast to, say, the run down, bland rooms in Jury's.

I know that its a little bit farther away but I've always found a parking space at Drummond Place, just along from LSS. I was a regular visitor there in its heyday. I cant remember the cost of the meters though as I now take the train when visiting Edinburgh, but there's always been spaces there recently.
