No need to throw your toys out of the pram and stop reviewing. Or is this a case of fragile ego?
don't be fluffy
This is a big boy forum
Very true. Take it on the chin mate. Live and learn.
If you know your reviews are genuine then why would you care what strangers on the internet think?
Well while we’re on the subject, that’s not entirely true or the best advice. Reviews are for the benefit of other punters, even though they are ‘strangers’. It’s not like a diary function (although I admit it can also be a way of keeping track of which prossies you’ve shagged), or to share the fact that your cock’s ‘had a great time’, or provide an entertaining read (and though sometimes it can be that as well): the main purpose, the purpose of this hard-won forum, is to
help other punters find value for money. So all reviews might help in a way but the thing is to keep in mind the purpose. Punters may have different tastes; but they then, knowing the reviewer is a stranger as well, need some way of deciding the reviewer’s viewpoint and standards if he says a punt was fantastic (since some people are easily pleased and if all prossies were rated great then there'd not be much point in reviewing them other than to confirm they exist!
So when someone has
only given ‘good’ reviews, there’s little way of telling what he thinks is good and not-so-good. Many will wonder if he has written it with a view to the prossie herself reading it (a pretty heinous sin on UKP — save flowery sweet talk for AW if you have to!)
So although Mr Toys-out-of-the-pram isn’t in the mood for advice just now, if at some point he grows a bigger pair and comes back treating his fellow punters with respect for their intelligence he might just consider it.
For anyone else, do check the UKP wiki guide on review writing. Link
External Link/Members Only or at the bottom of the page. It’s not gospel: but it has some good ideas. (No reviews are perfect, but we all should try to make them better.)
In particular, may I perhaps draw attention to:Make your review easy-to-read. It is good practice to use titles/sub-headings. One continuous paragraph will risk boring people. Remember that many members are using their mobile phones to read reviews. If you write a long review, then a good summary highlighting the positive, neutral and negative points can be very helpful for them as they may wish to skip the detailed descriptions. ...
Aim for balance and include aspects that could deter or attract other punters. ...
Do not reference other reviewers reviews to defend your position or post a review to white knight an escort.(example) ...
Write a review in order to allow other punters to make an informed choice about whether they want to visit the WG, rather than in order to “promote” the girl because you think “she deserves it”. This is the most common mistake and there is nothing worse ...
Your review should be factual. 'I found her attractive' is factual. 'She is the best looking girl in Birmingham' is not. Remember you can be as fluffy as you wish DURING the meeting but do not come across as delusional no matter how good the GFE illusion provided by the WG had been. ...
Avoid hyperbole; use superlatives selectively. It will help readers if you apply objectivity. If you review multiple girls, others may see a pattern and see whether they can relate to your taste, etc. ...
Giving everyone 10/10 or the same score unless truly great or really equal defeats the purpose of having a scale. ...
many UKP members do not like reviews that are recommendations ... You can write a Positive review without the mindset of recommending.
I’m sure all that ‘advice’ will piss some people off: but remember, there is no other forum like this. It has been subjected to repeated, massive attacks to shut it down. It’s free. And that, and all the technical skill and hard work due to the generosity of one man (Admin). If someone is ‘fragile’ they’ll either kick the habit or get more stick, and it serves a purpose. Without it, UKP would just be another prossie-worshipping fluffy board. If you get stick, there’s generally no hard feelings in it. We simply want you to man up and join in like a real punter not a woos.
Good luck. And enjoy
