Forget about rich businessmen, there a lot of guys in the City earning £100k plus. To them, you spending £150 on a punt is like them spending £500 or whatever. And just to chuck in an analogy, I paid £40 for a steak dinner the other day. It's wasn't any different to a steak you can order from your local pub but I'm not going to miss £40 and I fancied a place with table clothes and comfortable chairs
We each have different definitions as to what constitutes VFM
The analogy breaks down at some point though. For instance you wouldn’t pay £100 for that steak meal even if you could. Because at some point it’s just not worth it. I could pay 300/400/500 for a punt but it’s just a ridiculous price with the alternatives out there and not worth it.
Maybe if it was a guarantee of a good time I would do it occasionally, but generally price isn’t even correlated with performance so it’s not for me.
I think this high end market is a small turnover of inexperienced guys who think they are getting a top end service as a result of the price. They will quickly work out they aren’t and move to a lower price point if they become regular punters. Or maybe get a EAS and spunk thousands on a girl. Meanwhile, the girls can pick up a decent income for a few hours work per week.
There must be a market there but pretty crazy if you ask me.
