Now as I mounted the stairs I was prepared that neither of the girls would look as good as their pics. When I saw them it twas ever thus – and then some! The other girl who was not much less plain was slimmer and spoke reasonable English. A final inevitable irony is that a couple of days earlier I’d been stopped by an oriental girl alone near Regents Park asking me the way to Camden Town tube station. Naturally she was much prettier than these pair.
