It would appear that she has taken advantage of the way you approached the first meeting, and of course once that precedent had been set she presumably thought she could do so again. Without too much cross-referencing I'll also simply allude to her being exposed as a liar in how she responded to you as well.

On the one hand I commend you being honest with yourself about how your approach contributed to this situation. You didn't deserve it and kept your part of the contract by paying, but self-reflection is how you learn and avoid similar situations in the future. On the other hand I also encourage you to consider what you actually want from punting, as the statements above highlight you pursuing something that a) punting will inevitably not provide, and b) will leave you vulnerable. I'm aiming for advice rather than criticism, and hopefully that is conveyed
