Just wondering where you guys go for a routine health check?  As Aberdeen GUM doesn't do a drop-in service I ended going to Arbroath, which does, for my last check-up as I couldn't arrange an appointment discretely locally.

I go around every nine months but I don't punt that much ...say about 6 to 10 times a year .

I go to the clinic in the health village, you;re right there is no drop in clinic
you do have to explain over the phone why you wan to come in to get an appointment - I assume so they can prioritise
you have to register but I'm sure its confidential

Did you manage to get an appointment fairly easily, I couldn't phone early due to other occupants in the house, that's why I ended up going to Arbroath.

easily ? they will make an appointment there and then, in my experience that week.
But I suspect if you say have no symptoms and are coming in for a check up the appointment may be the following week.

Thanks, do you mention you visit sex-workers when you ask for an appointment?  I was given a certain day to call to make an appointment which was for a day, say the following week.  I request a health check and said I had no symptoms but didn't mention I visited sex workers.

I would tell the doctor/nurse the unvarnished truth during the appointment
depending on your sexual history they may offer different medical screening
but personally I wouldn't give all the sordid details to the receptionist,
she has no reason to know assuming you have no symptoms

if you have symptoms you need to tell them on the phone,
I assume so they know how urgent your need is and who you need to see
I did exactly this recently- I had warts got an appointment in a few days
another time I'd had a split comdom and wanted a check up and I think its was more than a week before I got in

Thanks again.  Hope the warts got sorted.  I had a bit of a scare last year, my wife had a one off discharge after sex, but I had no symptoms after me seeing a couple of working girls a couple of months earlier.  I found it hard to get a routine check-up appointment thus that's why I went to Arbroath as Tayside still do walk-in appointments.
