Author Topic: Can I change my username?  (Read 3002 times)

Offline Pando

I would like to start posting reviews, but want to use a different username to allow better anonymity on other sites. Does anyone know if this is possible/how to do it, or does Admin read this?
I've read the site rules but the link to change username won't allow me to message Admin: no idea why.
Any advice appreciated.

Just reported post to him for you.

shame you used your real name initially but you were not to know !

Offline Pando

Thanks - much appreciated. And yes a bit of a schoolboy error on my part: still a lot to learn, but I guess in this game we're always learning!

I made the same mistake. 3 things I'd say

1). Don't have the same username on AW and here - keep the two identities completely separate.
2). Never give any indication to anyone in your civilian life that you punt - it is highly stigmatised
3). Never reveal your real identity to anyone you come into contact with through punting.

If this sound a bit paranoid check out my review of Petite Ameera.

You still can't win if you're posting honest reviews. I posted a neutral a while ago and then got an email on AdultWork from the girl saying she thought it was unfair. My account names are completely different.

Well then you post on review and state she contacted you unsolicited and request it be changed to negative !

Simple

happened here with a positive.

Plenty of board members including me have learned not to report identifying details in reviews, and to leave it a few days before publishing if it is a negative.

I too would like to change my username for similar reasons to the OP. I've looked how to email Admin for assistance but can't seem to find a link  :dash:
Any help gratefully received! :scare:

Report your post and ask to change your name in the 'comments' box.

You do know you can change your aw user name, by your self

Offline shagmore

I made same mistake, did a review on here, and fortunately a punter on here said it best not to use same AW name as on here. Simply stopped using that account, and set up a new one with a different user name.
If admin wants to check that I am not using both will give details of other account name (saying that did post a comment recently as in- adversely used the wrong log in.

Wrong login ?  Really ?

Offline shagmore

Yes, was on AW, after reading the reviews of a prospective punt, logged onto here with AW details without realising.
Did research on WG, and then posted a comment on a different topic without realising.

Why the scepticism

Those that have come before you with multiple accounts.

Offline shagmore

Fair point, but thats why I am saying if admin want to check, its OK by me, as I am not using multiple accounts.
If I was, why would I mention it on here, I would keep schtum about it.
I made the error of setting up on here with the same handle as on AW, I was advised not a good idea. As could see no way of changing my original account went down this route. As said have only use it once by accident since having this account.
I got nothing to hide (apart from my name on AW)

That's not even mentioning the rules.

- Multiple accounts
Creating multiple accounts will result in banning of all accounts

But you are using, or at least have used, multiple accounts

And if in doubt, ask

Accidentally  (in- adversely?) logging in simply sounds like bullshit

But I think AW then flags that you have changed your name which can look dodgy,

Apparently not so I'm told.

Having more than one account on the same browser does flag up though.

Many girls only treat as a red flag if the alias has shady feedback.

I changed my AW ID name after a husband of a lady tried to out me years ago. The result is that I do not get texts on my phone when I gat an AW message as I cant re-register the phone number. Any ideas how to do a new phone number - with the same number?

Changing your AW user name's a doddle, it automatically changes to your new name on everything, feedback the lot.       :hi:

Go into 'my details' - edit profile -  profile details -  change the mobile number to what you want on the first page, then go to the bottom and click 'save'.

AW will send you a text with a code to reply with to register that phone.

Then go back to 'my details' and select 'mobile activation' and tick the box to receive text notifications that cost .60p each, if you don't want that just ignore this bit.   :hi:

Thank you DM but that is the problem, the correct number IS showing but AW thinks it is not correct!

Go into where the phone number is again and delete it, click save, go back in and enter it again and click save again. You'll get the text message to reply to, reply with the code and your number will be verified.   :hi:

You are sending it back exactly as it is? with capitals and spaces? if so can't think of a solution off hand.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know this and I've avoided putting negative reviews on here in the past as my AW and UKP names are a bit too similar. Stupid mistake but never thought about it when I started punting.
