Author Topic: Anyone Else's Plans Been Ruined By the Tube Strikes?  (Read 2043 times)

So I planned to go into central London for a punt or two tomorrow. Have the time etc.

Then I found out about the tube strikes. So I'll be headed to north London if I can actually find someone worth a punt lol. It seems futile. North London (AKA punting desert) no WG who is available is floating my boat. NW London looks better but no replies from anyone.  NE as dead as north lol

Bloody hell what a dilemma lol.

I was planning a drive from north to south London for a punt on Tuesday and now worried about traffic.

Its all about the time of day, you chose to travel!

Definitely.  It with London, I've found that anything outside of the hours of 10:30am - 14:00 pm is more or less rush hour!

I think to drive you'd be ok though. Don't think it's be that much worse then it already is. Maybe wrong though.

The strike starts at 6pm today. Kills off any punting plans for tonight.

I am considering another foray into the Soho Walk up tonight, so shouldn't expect too much hassle  :vomit:

Depending on how your home set up allows in terms of flexibility I've always preferred an evening punt.

More quieter roads in London and more discreet.

Driven into London on strike days before, and it's not bad if you wait until 11am . Also don't try after 3pm due to an earlier evening rush hour

No possible for me. At this rate I'm gonna not punt at all tomorrow and I've got other plans for Tuesday so maybe next week lol

Fuck this shot. No luck, with anyone. There are some possible Latina's but the last time I visited aLatina place in north London it was a b&s.

Not about that wasting time life!

My Polish painters never go on strike.  Are these striking cunts mostly British? I wonder if we have more of this to look forward to in the next few years?

Modernisation aka automation will reach into many occupations in the years ahead. Train drivers may be seen as lower class by some, and looked down upon by some. But so called middle class occupations are going to come under threat as well.

So are they cunts, or people standing up for their right to earn a decent living?

This narrative is completely forgotten in the media. I'm not saying I agree with the strikes but media coverage has resulted in people being hostile towards the workers. Now that seems unfair.  :(

If your strike plans are ruined, you can try the bus or even an uber. If you live with the missus then you're shit out of luck.

Automation so far has extended only into areas where an accident would not have severe consequences. The moment AI screws up something that matters, the entire automation process will go into reverse :)

They will always have manned trains and stations due to the h&s risks. As much as it can mess me about I still support their strikes.

The drivers better get used to automation...The technology won't be a run from a windows 98 desktop , when cross rail is finished some sections of lines inside London will have to be automated (as a human won't be able to keep up), then returning control back to the driver ones outside of the busiest areas.

saddest thing here (us not getting to our punts aside ), is its reported that workers that commute on the trains are losing their jobs because of the on going strikes.... don't know if its 100% true or spiced up media garbage.
