I’m cross with myself – I should have known better… I exchanged a few conciliatory emails on Wednesday across the purple portal with missemmyleeds following the above and arranged an appointment for 1:30 yesterday. This included the obligatory phone call to ease her mind.
Given all the concerns over reliability, we exchanged several texts and phone calls during the morning to confirm the appointment, her home address and parking arrangements. I gave her a number of clear opportunities to cancel particularly as she’d had a difficult appointment with one of her beauty clients during the morning.
I made the trip across West Yorkshire and arrived exactly on time and we exchanged a further phone call for the go-ahead. I was let in through front door just as her opposite neighbour was leaving the house, which was unfortunate timing although nothing more in my view. This seemed to really unsettle missemmyleeds, either that or my Prada suit was closer to mid-night blue than navy and she really couldn’t live with it. I’ve not ruled out the simple fact that I was not her physical cup of tea. Either way, her anxiety quickly became cold feet and she apologetically asked if we could cancel. I took the view that there was nothing to be gained from insisting otherwise and agreed to leave, which was a real shame because she is (as her review states) undoubtedly hot.
I took from her apology that she understands perfectly well that she cannot achieve the discretion and anonymity she needs for herself and her family whilst working from home. Equally, she understands that she has neither the time nor inclination to see sufficient people to make a hotel booking viable. She said exactly that and talked about quitting the game because she cannot square this circle. I suggest (for all our sakes) that she makes the decision quickly. Although I wasted a couple of hours and some vehicle fuel it was not the end of the world. She seemed sincere enough and followed up with a few more apologies by text but it was all so very predictable.
