I would have discussed all aspects of having it fitted, including whether or not sex was possible, with the medical professional who fitted it, but that's just me.
I'd generally agree with that advice, but in my experience of using indwelling and intermittent catheters most GPs haven't got much of a clue.
The 'medical professional' who fitted mine didn't seem to have clue what he was doing, and I had to get it refitted before I could leave hospital as urine was leaking out.
I was also discharged with minimal information from a young nurse, who also didn't give me enough night bags for the bank holiday weekend.
The surgical team just want to see the back of you with very little post surgery follow up.
I had to research all the information myself.
I could go on.......
Then again my hospital has the 2nd worse reputation in the country with the latest CQC reports still showing 'requires improvement' ratings.
That's despite the very bad publicity following the Lucy Letby case.......but that a different subject.
I believe there's some valuable advice given to the OP from folk with experience.
