In case it's of interest to others, following on from   https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=41092.0 and https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=41414.0   I've downloaded Hushed for Android and it looks pretty good so far. Not a universal solution, but it costs about £3 for a month with a number and a bit of credit, so if you're interested in an alternative to a second phone or sim it might be worth investing that to check it out.
