Amazing how carefully worded the headlines are.....

When you look at the actual research, it's not 5% but 1.3%, so not 1 in 5 but more like one in 75.

Read the figures, don't include guys, don't include 'indirect' work line phone sex and you get 1.3% escorting.

Anyway, the NUS is now in favour of decriminalisation.

At first I also thought this "one in twenty" was absurd.

And if you are thinking "normal" WG, several bookings a day, incall/outcalls etc then it is.
Students don't have the time and organisation to work like that.

But they do tend to be very sexually active so a few "paid for" dates would fit in OK.

So I can believe "one in twenty" has done this at some time. Maybe not often.
This is why there don't seem to be many.

So it may be quite easy for a sensationalistic journo to find girls who admit to "taking money for sex".
They then just over-cook the "facts" a bit. Well, they would, wouldn't they.

1 in 20!!!!        I wish, in Brum you will be hard pressed to find one on AW and keep in mind if they had any business sense, they would be shouting it from the rafters they were students given the attraction to the punters.
So those stats are a load of bollocks. I would say nearer 1 in 500 from my scientific survey  :(

"Sex work" encompasses everything from chat lines, Web cams, stripping, naked waitering, thru to escorting and sugar babing ... being a disgusting scandal sheet needless to say the mail makes no distinction between them nor does the article appear to distinguish between someone who does it once and some one who does it every day.

In other words it's such a worthless article it's not worthy of taking seriously.

19/20 if sex work also includes flirting for free drinks without putting out

I think this is the underlying report:

Numbers wise In total 10,991 respondents accessed the survey of which 6,773 represented the final sample after data cleaning

I think the story and figures at total bollocks. Sensationalist press having a slow news day.
1 in 20 is rubbish. DO an AW search on major university cities and you will find a very small proportion in the 18-21 age band.  Some do do it, I've been with them, but not what the Mail says.

I've watched my area in September and October, and there's no increase to correspond with a new intake of students.

My son did a journalism course at Uni, and the tutors told them that the Mail was the least truthful of all the national papers.

A lot more than 1 in 20 students is full of bull shit and will tell you anything if they get a laugh out of it

1 in 20 would mean well over 50000 female Uni student WGs out there........ what an absolute load of cobblers that stat is.

Well 1 in 20
if the 20 are 50/50 male / female then the figure is really 1 in 10

The Wail in 'prints bollocks' surprise. I'm shocked, I'm truly shocked.

My eldest is about to go to university. I am not sure I am looking forward to reading a review on here. Double standards it may be.

can you post a body piccie of her for us.,.  also what uni?   :)

If she's thinking about it she might be doing some research thinking she sure is looking forward to reading her old man's posts on UKP.

Suggested blackmail: "Hey Dad, uni fees are really high and I have books and drinks to pay for. Which would you prefer me to do, sell my bod or insist you get a second mortgage? Happy punting."

She would need to know my punting identity for this. I would like to think my security measures are adequate.

As others have said, 1 in 20 seems very high, I find it very hard to believe there are that many

I think I've seen 2 genuine students and I've been punting since around 2007\08. There seems to be a lot of 40 year old EE students on the game and a few single mothers who happen to be students. Can anybody remember when they were all models, student seems to be the new marketing ploy.

There's actually very few prossies under 25.

I punt in the NE which is quite isolated geographically and has a fairly small, well established pool of WGs.

There are 100,000 university students in the NE:
27,000 Northumbria
23,000 Newcastle
20,000 Teesside
17,000 Durham
13,000 Sunderland

Assume half of those are female.

While there definitely are students escorting in the NE, if there are even 50 of them (and I'd be surprised if there were anywhere near that many), that is only 1 in 1000.

Offline kefell

Keep an eye on Craigslist, 99.9% of the W4M ads are fakes but just now and then you get a genuine student on there .... think there are a couple advertising from Newcastle/ Northumbria over the last couple of weeks.

One in 20 students sell their bodies

wished that was definitely the case but sadly completely the total opposite, or else cities like York would be blooming with teen student escorting, but its actually as dead as the number of gypsy travelers escorting = none

if you don't believe me, check out the york punting section and have a look;
