HI All,

First time poster here, always having a look at what you lucky fuckers are up to on the reviews but as yet haven't punted with anyone from AW !  May do in the future !!!!

Anyway, prob like some other here, things at home with the other half are shit when it comes to shagging, mostly my fault as I can't be arsed TBH and the stiffys aren't much to write home about anyway. So I thought I would get my Testosterone levels checked to see if anything is on the low side and could be affecting the stiffys, so got my results, not sure of the units used but the normal levels are to be from 7.6 to 30.1 or thereabouts, so my level came back at 7.9 !!

I am healthy and train at the gym most days and diet is good, no other levels on the blood test were much out of range.

So question is, have any of you guys had you levels checked or currently receiving T Therapy ??
I know my level is within the normal levels 'but' it does seem to be the case that it is affecting my stiffys........

Be careful Charlie Sheen recently blamed his massive whore and drug binge on testosterone therapy.

If I am mentally in the mood for it or my enthusiasm levels are high, I punt. If I am mentally not up for it and my enthusiasm is not there I don't punt. That is regardless of the testosterone levels. It don't mean shit if your enthusiasm is not there.

I had my testosterone level measured 9 years ago and the figure was 8.1. Low testosterone can lead to osteoporosis, cardiac problems and excessive weight gain. I have been on gel replacment therapy since that test (100 mg per day). I now have no problems sexually,  lost 10 kg in weight and have the muscular definition of a 30 year old (I am 72). I have more energy than I had before and find my mind is more alert. The theories of downsides to this therapy are not born out by my experience. I do not have any signs of prostate problems and my last PSA test was 1.9. I still have a reasonable amount of hair on my head, admittedly not as much as in my youth, but then who has. More and more GPs are happy to prescribe testosterone replacement therapy for the aging male as the benefits are becoming so apparent. The "safe" low level for testosterone is set at 15. The norm should be between 16 and 30. My level is now 21.

Low testosterone is normal above 60 years. Sometimes we just need to accept we aren't 16 anymore and won't live forever, instead of demanding the NHS fix everything for free.

Nonsense. The value each person gets out was paid in by the previous generation. A pension isn't stored up and kept for you until 65. This "I've paid in so I'm entitled" is the biggest pile of crap around right now.

Baby boomers are the richest generation this country has ever seen because they are living far longer than their parents (who lived to be early 70s instead of late 80s) and their lengthy retirement is funded by their offspring, people born 1970-1990 ish despite what they might say.

And they still get free prescriptions etc from 65 despite being the richest people around.

I know, I've been around long enough. Once we aren't contributing anymore, and we start using more resources than we did when we were contributing, then we are a burden on society. It's no surprise that, in the middle of the working day, most of the "65" plate cars you see are driven by the grey hairs, and young folks in their 20s can't get a house be use the same grey hairs own all the property.

If your testosterone is 7.9 at 45 then go and see your GP

Couple of things on testosterone. Firstly, if you get it, you will get a gel (though it used to be injected and possibly some private clinics still do). A number of other things are recognised as raising and lowering testosterone and although age is one of them so is marriage. Theoretically it reduces that hunter instinct which goes with testosterone levels. Secondly, the way they measure what is 'normal' varies. A private clinic will measure it differently to your GP, and the skeptic will possibly say (with some good arguments) that it is price related. Sure, as you get older, it is 'normal' for testosterone levels to drop but it is also 'normal' for your eyesight to deteriorate, to get more diseases and mental acuity to slip. Some of those things can be corrected easily and either cheaply or privately, or else treatments have few side-effects to weigh against perceivable benefits. You would have to jump through a lot of hoops to get testosterone so you are maybe going to find it much easier to get viagra or cialis (cialis for a marriage as it allows better spontaneity).

Absolutely..... Refer all matters to the medics

I've read a bit on this and taking supplements etc can boost T levels but your body thinks it has sufficient so tells your testes to switch off production ....which is not what we want.....so medical advice all the way

I get sachets of testosterone gel which I smear on my upper arms every morning and it dries in about one minute. It is fully absorbed after one hour. As far as semen production is concerned, it is quite copious. The last lady to indulge me in CIM remarked on the volume she had to spit out. I am quite capable of satisfactory sexual congress with escort, civilian or partner at least twice a week. The medication is supplied by NHS prescription by my GP financed by a grateful Exchequer to whom I have paid vast sums of tax every year and even at my great age continue to do so.

Alright dude, that does seem low, have you ever done steroids??
There's quite a bit you can do to bump them and not by testosterone supplements, they are shit, at best they're libido boosters.
Here's what worked for me, im 33 and and on my last test i'm 20 on the testosterone scale.

Switch to high intensity workouts, some kind of circuit training ideally crossfit, as this includes lots of compound lifts like squats, cleans etc it's fucking savage, but paired with a good nights sleep of 8 hours 5 days a week your body will respond by increasing testosterone and growth hormone. Throw in some ZMA (zinc and magnesium) also before bed.

Eat a high fat low carb diet, cut out the sugar ASAP. I mean a shit load of fat, nuts, avocado, fatty grass-fed meat and shoot for 50 grams of carbs a day.
Look up the paleo diet or bulletproof diet. Sounds terrible but when you get fat adapted its a winner (meaning your body will run on fats not carbs and sugars)

Calm the booze down, beer is amazing but increases your estrogen and drops the testosterone like a mother fucker. By all means sink a few but if you can switch to a spirit after a couple of pints then do! I always like to finish on a red wine when out as this has estrogen blocking properties.

Get some high dose vitamin D tablets, you're probably low, we all are here in the UK.

Try this for 6 months, it really is a game changer. Testosterone therapy really isnt needed unless there's other issues going on, the above will transform you.

If anyone else wants advise drop me a message, been doing this shit for a long time, all these pricks online selling supplements and training programmes are mostly con artists.

How d'ya test it and find out your score then?

Well the NHS doesn't seem to have a problem giving out boob jobs to 24 year old media savvy skanks, so I'll take what I can get. I would have a '65 plate car, but I've got a personal plate instead.

Your doctor will do so on request (sending a blood sample off). It will then in all likelihood come back as "normal for your age." (Which means youre getting old so it is "normal" to feel less get-up-and-go, less libido, less concentration, less muscle mass, less optimism for life. Remember it used to be considered "normal" for women to become miserable old cunts at menopause -- until hormone replacement became standard.)

The yardsticks are wrong, and if you go to a private clinic they will most probably find that you are better off with hormone replacement. It would be interesting to see if Dr Whatsit (the online UK clinic that many here seem to get their viagra from) uses the NHS scale of 'normal' or the private one.

Guidelines do say that t-levels are only ONE of the factors to be considered when prescribing, but most GPs will only really use that. The stuff is relatively expensive, controversial simply as it is a steroid, and host to a mass of fine print legislation. The Royal Academy and most recent studies are highly critical of the flawed NHS sermonising but you are very lucky indeed if your GP listens to them rather than the party line and budget advisories! Slightly ironic as one of the main manufacturers is a UK company!

Going to the gym isn't enough, it is what you do when you get there and how much rest and recovery you get afterwards which matters.

If you stick to the six main compound lifts ie, squat, bench , overhead press, deadlift, row and chin up and get the right supplementation you will produce more testosterone than if you did any other kind of program. If you lift heavy and you lift often on a bulgarian style program, you will be mental wreck, but your body will not only produce more testosterone, but get better at utilising it too.

ZMA tablets allegedly provide the right nutrient balance for maximum testosterone production. It might be worth considering.

As others have said, testosterone levels will decline with age too. Your body matures until you turn around 25 years old, and it is all downhill from there on out.

If you have already found your darling and knocked out a couple of kids your testosterone levels will naturally decline pretty rapidly regardless of age as psychologically, you have already fulfilled your manly duty so your physiology responds in kind.

Lastly, if you are bothered about your stiffy, that fact alone will do more to harm your progress than anything else ever will. It may be hard not to ruminate about it now, but in time you will get over it and get your hard on back.

Hi,

Nice to see this thread active again with so many useful replies, thanks to all !

I do train at the gym and do pretty well too, diet is very good with minimal boozing. I did take Zinc for a while but found no difference in the way I've felt, I have felt this way for a number of years, one other supplement I take is creatine which should in fact be raising my T levels. Diet is mostly protein rich !

Seeing the doc this week for some advice, will report back

Thanks again

My understanding is that the cholesterol hypothesis of heart disease is now in tatters. Even the American government are now saying cholesterol does not cause heart disease but an incorrect ratio of LDH/HDL does. We've been fooled into a high sugar, high carb diet in the name of health which may have contributed to the declining testosterone levels that has occurred for many generations now.

In his book, The Four Hour Body, Tim Ferriss outlines a protocol for boosting testosterone naturally. I tried it, it works if adhered to.

I believe High Intensity compound exercise with weights has been shown to boost T levels. But you can't piss around. You really have to train very heavy. Periodise the program to avoid burn out.

Tim Ferriss interviewed legendary strength coach Charles Poliquin on his podcast and he's in favour of eating a diet fairly high in good quality fats too. It's well worth a listen, Charles is a very funny guy.

I have never messed around with anabolic's but know many who have. The hormone feedback look is very sensitive and requires a competent quack to ensure your hormones are balanced. Unfortunately many GPs are lazy, careless and do not keep up with the latest developments. There are actually very few endocrinologists of worth so your GP is likely to know very little.

I've heard good things about Dr Thierry Hertoghe. He has a book available on Amazon and lectures world wide. He also has a clinic in Belgium.

I have no affiliation with any of the above I just want to help fellow members keep theirs up!

Because of an enlarged prostate (BPH) I have to take Finasteride every day. While there are some positive side effects (much reduced onset of baldness) unfortunately oral Finasteride, a type II 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor, quickly deactivates testosterone.  While that has other side effects the Mrs has noticed, I have to say that other ladies seem to have some sort of tactile, visual or pheronome activated antidote to the problem  :D :D and are QUITE capable of inducing all the desired body effects without me having to use other chemical assistance.

Brilliant and true. The OH produces little enthusiasm but every fit women in their 20's gives a little stir.

It's funny how as soon as you get divorced, start an affair, or see an attractive WG things come right again.

Who do you think monogamy benefits most? Not men, that's for sure.

Online Marmalade

There's actually studies supporting the drop connected with marriage. Maybe a few whores on the side helps to give married men their hunter instinct back. Consequently even the wife (if by some chance she's up for it) might get the benefit of a testosterone-fuelled shag. Wives should be thanking these prossies for keeping their hubbyho's pecker spritely and willing rather than complaining!  :D
