Autocorrect near miss

Texting the OH the other day - she was away and the mouse was out to play so texted to say I was going out for a pint (in case she rang the landline). Apple decided it knew me better and replaced "pint" with "punt"...
Spotted in time luckily, and could have been much worse- I almost texted her a cut/paste AW profile link after writing a review once!
Anyone else had autocorrect near-misses?

I quite often have to work on-call with my job, and sometimes this gets auto-corrected to incall. Thankfully I tend to proof read my texts!

No but, when somebody mentions the term "take a punt" I find it amusing.

It's been said time and again, get another phone for your punting! Then your main one won't learn the wrong terms, and you'll be protected from yourself!! Otherwise sooner or later you'll make a fatal error

I do have a punting phone. It's a basic with no internet - so I do my AW/UKP searches etc in "private browsing" on my smartphone. That's where the problem comes from.

Yea thats a real pain in the arse with Samsung, learning words when in private WTF!
You need to hold down and remove from learned words after every session!

After a session on UKP / AW i always pick a simple non-descript word / no. on something on my lap-top.  Anything.  Highlight then press copy.  Nearly got caught out when doing a business email.  I thought i had done the same on another document to bring across a section etc.  When i pressed 'paste' up popped the adultwork link    Only just spotted this.  In this case the recipient would have laughed his tits off & probably started a convo like "is she any good" etc.  However if this had gone to the OH then i would have been well & truly fucked

I had a VERY VERY VERY VERY near miss the other day, saved only by the fact both my OH and mother in law are half blind without their specs...

I'd been to USA, for work. While out there I'd had a cheeky look at Backpage for escorts. Somehow I'd Copied the URL from Backpage, don't remember doing that deliberately but ...

FFwd to last weekend. Me, OH and dreaded mother in law in kitchen. They were trying to find something on the Argos website, using my iPad (which I thought I'd made safe), but were being slight fuckwits about it.

Let me sort it I said, in my manly way.

Put the cursor in the Search bar ... and fuck me it Pasted in the Backpage Escorts URL for this certain city I'd been at, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.

Fuck! But ...

a) they were only half-looking, having a female moment (in who does this guy think he is to tell us how to do things? kind of way)

b) neither of them had their specs on.

Thank Christ for female arrogance. I quickly turned the iPad around, deleted the offending URL which was sitting right there 100% visible, and typed in 'the search item.

Fuck!! One of the closest calls ever, for me. They noticed nothing.

Later I Copied and Pasted something inoffensive into the iPad's cache, and life-ending moment averted.

Instant grey hairs.

Same here , it has various benefits .

Personal opinions - don't use the same OS as your main phone or tablet and/or if possible different to what wives/partners have .

Don't use home/work wifi ,mobile internet is safer.

Ensure all accounts used are punting only ,NEVER use for any personal purpose !

Never plug it into a PC


This should hopefully stop any syncing with personal life while allowing you to reap the benefits .

Don't use home/work wifi ,mobile internet is safer.

I have a separate wifi network setup on my router that doesn't advertise it's SSID.   Enough to get around OH.
