But what I will also say, when I was at the Gum clininic last Monday the doctor taking my blood/swabs said, after my telling her I am taking dodgy viagra, they have a male health advice clinic there and she referred me to them to chat. She said it can take a while - months even - to actually get seen by them but I put my name down for it and will chat with them when it comes round.
Thought this is worth mentioning. But I have been to this clinic tonight.
And this clinic - unlike my GP. Can prescribe the medication on the NHS for reasons for anxiety, or if the ED is causing the person emotional distress etc.
She was going to give me a prescription for Viagra, but I had asked to trial Levitra instead due to the Viagra causing blue tinge to eyesight issues in me (its a rare side effect the Doctor said that may be fixed with Lavitra). So I now have a prescription on the NHS for 8 tablets of Levitra (so no £33 private prescription like with my GP). I was told I can keep having prescriptions for it as long as I feel I need it as long as I never start to need to take the medications that can cause adverse reactions (alpha blockers etc) or if I move out of the area.
Going back in a months time to see how the Levitra works and if it does not she will switch it to Viagra.
Another thing to mention the Doctor I saw ridiculed the advice and process given to my by my GP. As what my GP did was give me 10mg of Cialis and said if this does not work he will up it to 20mg. (or he was going to give 50mg of viagra and up it to 100mg)
What they recommend in the Gum Clinic and do is give the highest dose to allow the person see success of the tablet working and remove any anxiety away of it not working and then reduce it down if needed on the one month time appointment.
For those buying the tablets from the internet its worth booking an appointment with the Gum Clinic ED support clinic to see if you can get it on the NHS IMHO.
Finally to also add. They said they like to write to your GP that they have prescribed it, but they do not say anything about any tests or sexual history etc.- so she said she wont tell my GP I have been seeing prostitutes etc.
She said they don't have to write to your GP but it is better for them to do so, so your GP knows when prescribing anything to you of what else I am taking.
