What's with the Romanians?

Every so often my area on AW is flooded by Romanian profiles of very attractive young women with what look like professionally shot pictures. Whenever I try to contact them by email I get no reply, when I try to contact them by phone it goes to answer phone. What do they get out of this? I would understand if they wanted to setup a meeting with a couple of meat heads waiting around the corner to beat me up and mug me but setting up a profile with a gorgeous woman and then completely ignoring all comms, what's the point of it?

That's the only possibility I guess. My most recent annoyance was actually with a Polish and Czech lasses. They were working as a pair but also had separate profiles, I asked them via email whether they were in town or not, tried calling them over the course of a couple days, several times per day, then after those efforts failed, sent them intimidating messages on AW telling them to watch their backs if they are in town. Profiles gone next day, result!
