If you read the article, it states that the police think she was involved in prostitution.

Its in the news she is thought to be a prostitute.  Apparently happened in Union Street.  If you saw her I would speak to the polis before they find you.

thats good advice. the polis will go through her phone and they will check all the numbers, even the pay as you go ones and be able to find out who they are. They will then chap your door or visit you at work. But if you contact them they will arrange for you to visit them discreetly and give a statement. You will be helping them to eliminate yourself. This is a murder enquiry and the polis will leave no stone unturned. There will also be all the dna in her room so if you are known to the polis they will have your dna on file.

I agree with that 100%, although its a bit more than just giving a statement. Over 20 years ago, I went to the police after the murder of a prostitute. They put out warnings that they would be knocking on the doors of car owners that were kerb crawling in Glasgow's red light district, unless they came forward. They did the hard man, soft man, approach, and treated me as a real suspect, so be warned. Soft man befriends you and seems like he's just taking notes, and you meet him first. Then comes hard man and he's a real pain in the arse. After the interview they asked to see inside my car boot. They were surprised to find and then remarked when they found an empty box of cucumbers. I had lifted it from a supermarket in the days when they left out empty boxes for you to take. Make no mistake, they WILL treat you as a suspect, unless they have a positive lead elsewhere. They did find the person responsible in my case. By sheer coincidence, the guy whose dogs found the body worked in the same place as me, and he got the same 'suspect' treatment as me. They dont apologise afterwards either.

PS. I forgot to mention that they showed me an A4 folder of photographs of girls that worked in the red light district. I was enjoying looking through it to see if there were any nice ones that I didnt know. I remember soft man laughing when I expressed disgust at one of them. Hard man then got fed up with this and took the folder from me.  :D  I didnt expect to be shown a brochure of what was on offer.  :D

Squire "life on Mars time" but agree its not going to be comfortable.  But even more uncomfortable if you don't make the effort.  I used to work in telecommunications they will find you.  The sooner it gets resolved the more all parties will feel a bit more relaxed.

Chap I knew shot himself after cops got on his case because dead woman was found wrapped in a curtain that came from a hotel in his home town that was under renovation.Obviously anyone from said town who were known to cops as kerb crawlers etc were immediate suspects,so the upshot was he was outed to his family and the shame of it all was to much to bear.

We need to know who she is first.

Was she local or a tourer? Then we can decide if we seen her. I've never punted in Aberdeen

I don't doubt they have their ways and means, but out of interest, if you walk into a shop and buy an unregistered pre-pay phone or sim and pay for it in cash, only ever topping it up in cash, what methods would they use to find you? Are we talking signal tracking or what?

The shop you bought it in will no doubt have CCTV, where you buy your top up will have CCTV,  if it comes  down to doing triangulation they will no doubt have you walking or in a vehicle.  Your call history= they can contact everyone on the call history or who ever you texted to get confirmation of who you are.  They may just call you and state that they are investigating a crime and want to speak to you.  All this takes a while but there are ways and means of getting to the source.

You mean the Police can legally demand from a network the call history records of a number if it's thought to be related to a crime?

Offline pilgrim

I know that the normal operators at the call centres get these type of requests daily and its passed on to the supervisors/floor walkers who release the information quickly, no need for a sheriffs warrant or such like.

I served on a jury for an attempted murder and it's scary just exactly how much information the police can acquire from your network.

Nah, I'm well aware big bastard is watching me at every turn I take, but I don't give a fuck. It's the inevitable price even the most liberal of societies has to pay for so much technological service and convenience. I'm just mildly interested in the particular methods he actually employs to do so.

Some of the more prolific punters might need to get a lawyer.

It could be 'Making a Murderer' all over again!

If i had seen this girl recently then i would be slightly concerned best thing to do would be nipping into the cop shop and give yourself the all clear and peace of mind

would be a difficult one to explain to the wife why there are two polis at the door regarding the murder of a prostitute  :dash:

better safe than sorry.

Pete you don't need to know her name if you have never punted in Aberdeen its not likely to be relevant.  You just need to look at the picture of the close in Union Terrace on the website.  If you visited that place in recent times get it over and done with and speak to the feds.

They aren't interested in everyday punters. Like Squire I went forward to eliminate myself 20 years ago or so but I never got any good cop/bad cop routine. Remember it's a murder they're investigating. That's more important than paying for sex.

I don't know about triangulation of phone signals or tracing CCTV from where you bought a pay as you go phone but if you have any information you'd be well advised to volunteer it. If you've nothing to do with the murder then you've nothing to fear. If you've seen the girl you may have information that could be helpful. This is someone who has killed and deserves to be caught.

25 or so years ago there was a spate of street girls getting bumped off and I got a letter from plod. as I had been spoken to about kerb crawling some years before, a very nice letter asking if I would care to assist them with their enquiries into these murders. Without hesitation I went along to the local station and I must say I was treated with every courtesy. They took a statement, DNA sample etc. and I have to say were no problem when I explained that no way could I remember what the hell I had been doing on certain nights months and in one case years before.
I would say to anyone who has seen this girl, provided you didn't bump her off, to make yourself known to the plod and you can expect reasonable treatment from them, as they are not on a vice kick but a murder investigation, and I shouldn't think they will be interested in any other punting you have been doing away from this poor girl.

I know what you are saying Chico but if she was a touring escort and I had seen her in, let's say, Glasgow, then my number might still be on her phone. No?

I usually keep texts from / to WG's for a while after the booking.  Just in case on the 1 in x million chance she subsequently gets attacked / robbed etc.  Coz if you have a chain of texts with nice replies / bout future bookings etc then would show that you're not the perpetrator.  I don't worry about texts on the punting mobile coz if the OH ever finds it then i'm fucked anyway.  And messages / no messages will make sweet FA difference to my fate

Your right but the Feds will concentrate on the her movements/meetings around the time of her death in Aberdeen.  If they don't get anywhere they will spread it out and expand things.  It's early days yet but it looks like there will not be expanding it to much.

Not surprised that someone has been arrested for this so soon. What with the level of CCTV, Mobile phone monitoring, and all the other shit they can pull to watch us, the last person you would want to harm is someone the police probably have a watching brief on anyway.
There is so much surveillance on us now that Orwell's Big Brother would be greetin fur his mammie.

Thanks for the update.  A relief to all concerned I'm sure.  It would be of interest if he was a maniac punter, a pimp or jealous boyfriend or totally unconnected.  Don't suppose we will get that till he appears for trial.  Anyway hope the fucker rots.

Totally senseless crime.

I don't know Aberdeen at all, but that looks like quite a nice busy street. I guess the risks are still massive in this job, no matter where you set up camp. What a fucking ass hole, who ever he was.

Probably sounds sick but I can't help wondering who she was. If she was a touring girl she could've been someone who was in one of our own cities mere days ago.

Disgusting scumbag attitude of Aberdonian police since things 'changed hands'. They're not interested in giving prossies any protection while they're alive but hey ho a prossie is murdered and they're all over the place. If they hadn't fucking harassed the poor prossies to death and worked with them and with punters for that matter, the poor wee thing might still be breathing.

History tells it: Glasgow, abolitionism, murders. Edinburgh, tolerance and cooperation, no murders... the police and politicians really ought share the occasional brain cell and try to make Scotland safer for everyone .... they prefer headlines of course, numbers on the stats sheet and a pat on the back for facing "terrible murders" instead of helping everyone to stay safe.

Offline auldie63

There's nothing new in plods attitude to WGs. Over the years how many street girls have been done in and how many times have sherlocks actually got someone for it from their own efforts as opposed to someone being shopped for it.

Offline ik8133

There was a report in the Daily Record saying that it was a sex game gone wrong, whether that is the case or not, I suppose we'll have to wait and see until more details are revealed.

That was the early assumption, but they changed it later to murder.

Victim was a London based tourer.....who was also known to tour Dundee, Edinburgh and Inverness.
