So I visited Oxford to see some friends. On my return my girlfriend asked if I went Punting. Thought I got busted. Luckily for me she meant punting of the boating kind. Lol

The meaning of the word has changed for me too. A colleague used it when discussing something non-WG related and I scanned his eyes just in case we realised we had a mutual secret hobby

Turns out restaurant staff call their customers punters. Never mind, as you were.

Audiences at comedy clubs and customers at night clubs are also often referred to as punters. I'm sure there are many other examples too.
