Price rises, reduction in escort numbers, increase in EE escorts and possibility of punters being called as witnesses.

The civil service are inherently lazy, the lazy way would be for them to offer an amnesty like they have done for many other trades then finally do some work if they feel like it after the amnesty has been talked to death.

Here  we go again - the end of prostitution as we know it.
It's been ending for the past 2000 years.

Austerity makes any cash look tempting to the government so it's no surprise that they are after taking as much as they can from the sex industry. The best way to do this is to legalise prostitution but I can't see the moral brigade ever letting that happen, shame really, but it will never kill it whilst there's a demand for it.

It will only end when humans no longer exist !!

As for tax-man, just don't see it, might give Agencies a bit of a hard time, but how they going to catch up with the girls. Just posturing again !!

Sorry but i think they should pay tax- I have to. I don't think prices will go up much if at all as they will have to absorb paying tax the same as we do, when we pay our taxes. They may try to increase prices but its cut throat out there and to get the business they wont be able to increase that much if they wish to keep their clients. I think WG's should pay tax after all they enjoy the benefits of our society for which our taxes are used and that are essential to run the services that we expect to be there.
The whole of the public sector is creaking at the seams be it NHS, police, teaching, boarders agency, HMRC etc. Without taxes being received there will only be more cuts to our services....
The issue of big business avoiding tax is a different issue. AND they too should pay their share and HMRC should be more robust in sorting them out as well. It pisses me off that big business seems to be able to negotiate their true liability away.............. :bomb: :bomb:

Surely everyone involved in the sex industry pays tax?????

I bet there's a queue round the tax office for the visit to the agencies and lapdancing clubs

Of course it is. Just like politicians promises to stop prostitution. It will never happen. And I wish punters would realise this.   :dash:

Don't expect them yo pay tax unless you give them the same rights as other citizens. Which includes not harassing them or campaigning against them or allowing bills tgat want to make them or their customers criminals. And fuck off with the "no touching" rule.

Of course sex workers should pay tax, no question. I don't understand why they would pursue agencies for tax, though. Agencies are illegal, so surely they should get closed down, not just have their petty cash raided. If I was running an agency I would argue most strongly that I would want my business legalised and licensed, THEN taxed.

And expect anybody to listen of course?

Yep, they'll be taxing drug dealers next. Can't have it both ways.

Who exactly are the hmrc going after

They state there going for the lap dancing clubs, and escort agencies, so are they going after the lap dancers and escorts, as they earn and would assume the keep most of the money they make

And escort agencies, any money they get from escorts, would this not be living of immoral earnings, so wonder what would be the view on this by hmrc

Who knows, it could be good. Push it more underground and easier to get offered a feel. The Edinburgh ones were great once upon a time.

The all time regulation-taxation low is America. Go to a top club that's very visible and you'll get fuck all but pay wads of cash. Go to some backstreet shithole where the IRS won't show their face and you get a blow job, a bunny-rabbit eager shag and enough change for beers and round two. What makes anyone think a prissy government has the slightest bit of know how in running a sexual service industry??? Because that's what taxation means, and it usually means predictable and boring, as well as overpriced.

Whether your business model is legal or not, you still have to pay tax on any profit.  This is an established legal principle.

My understanding of Agencies and Girls is the Agency works for the girls and only represent them for a fee of booking appointments on their behalf. I do stand to be corrected if this is proved to be wrong cos that is what i'm told the legal stance is  :)

That's their arrangement, so they invoice all the girls for their fee and thus what the tax man want his cut of.

No idea on ins and out of any, but get the impression the government wouldn't go after them if this was run properly.

By going it that way its also a NI avoidance by the business.

We will see anyway, but full expect an amnesty so they can do it the easy way !
