You don't need any of those things. Its an inside decision, not requiring anything outside of yourself.

Sure, but I was just pointing out that those things would make it easier, I know it would in my case.  To some degree punting fills a hole in men's lives, if that hole was filled with other more meaningful things then stopping would be much easier.

OK, but marriage is not necessarily meaningful to every man, but I agree that it helps to replace it with whatever has meaning to an individual.

Punting is fun, why make out its some psychological gap in someone's life like an illness to be cured, maybe for you not for me, most men do it because that can and its fun.   :wackogirl: :wackogirl:

Erm - to lighten the tone a little - punting is definitely about filling a hole, or two, or even three!

I manage to stop between punts  :-). For me in the past it's that I have a bad run of punts and I end up thinking that I could be spending my money on better things. Then I come to my senses and think naaah, you haven't

About emptiness because he needs marriage kids and a good job or he is doomed to punting.

That itch for sex always brings you back to punting, regardless of how long you spend away from it.

Not necessarily marriage and kids but yes the suspicion that punting fills a void in one's life is a valid reason for exploration.

For me I'm cutting down a lot mainly because I'm getting bored of it. Btw, since I am new and you are a vet here, how do I use The PM system.

Well, I think this is nonsense - but allowed within the free speech ethos of UKP AIUI, as is a robust response.

If you have emotional problems and are a motorist it does not mean all motorists have emotional problems, and the same is true of punting.

Whoa , whoa steady on.

If you read within the context, you'll see that I am manly referring to myself, to be clear I was in the past using punting to fill the void of boredom. As I said, this situation has improved.

That's not at all clear from the words you used - such as those I quoted. I believe it's fair to say posters do appear sometimes, making wild generalisations about punters on UKP and are - fairly IMO - given short shrift. A recent example was "Deviant". If you mean to speak only of yourself you should be careful to say so IMO.

" Not at all clear " ? What are you on about ? Your own quote of me ( reply 89) CLEARLY states that it IS about me ( the unbolded part).

So next time when / if you have a genuine issue to debate, then do it but don't put words into my mouth and then try to debate that.  Maybe you do have issues surrounding punting, go and see a therapist.

So much for your short shrift ... LOL

By the way, don't reply because I won't.

I'll choose whether or not to reply to you, thanks very much - you're not a mod - yet.

Speaking in general terms as you have done about punters in the words I bolded has been a characteristic of trolls such as "Deviant" in the past, and it's just bollocks IMO.

Giving up punting can be very easy .... just get horribly ill, ideally whilst on holiday in a place where there's cockroaches in the hospital bathrooms, then bring the illness home with you and let it linger on for several months ..... I haven't had the strength or strong desire to punt since September. Having said that, a few get well soon messages from my three favourites have brought me very close to resuming my hobby at times. Hopefully I will get back in the saddle at least once more before this year is out. In stark contrast to me, my punting fund is now so healthy I may treat myself to all three favourites at the same time.

You cannot take part of what he said out of context and blow that up into an issue that clearly is not what he meant when read in context.  In any case I would agree with him in some cases including myself, if I had a great sex life with the OH I would not be punting now, I am sure on that.  So yes to some extent it is filling a hole in my life.

I also think that if my OH suddenly became a sex goddess I would find it hard to stop punting, as others have said once the genie is out of the bottle it is hard to get it back in.

I am puzzled why you found what he said so offensive....

I find people generalising about punters to be offensive. It's what Harriet Harman and any number of feminazis do. As well as many trolls on the Net.

I also try always to speak from my own experience when discussing punting, and not to generalise my experience as though I am able to speak for or on behalf of other punters.

It goes in cycles I think. Ive punted for just over 10 years and ive had periods of punting a lot, then months without. 3 factors- cash, opportunity including family shit, and horniness. Not punted for a month, got cash, had opportunity last few days but just now cant be arsed.

+1

Mood and enthusiasm does dictate how often you punt. These two things certainly influenced me. Also having great punts encourages regularity.

At the moment I have stopped punting as those two things are not there.

Though on the bright side I have an opportunity to save money.

Is that a new policy?  I managed to send a PM even before I posted anything.  But that was in July.
