An article in todays Sunday Mercury says that Studio 189 on Hagley Road was raided on the 8th October 2015 with 8 female 'sex workers' being removed from the premises and 1 woman being arrested on suspicion of managing a premises for the purposes of prostitution.

I only went the once . It was early in the evening . Not many girls on offer and not that great an experience but I heard good things about the place from other people .

Hardly surprising really as its not in a very discrete area at all . I went when it was the pleasuredome and felt very uncomfortable when I came out because it's on one of the main roads into Brum.  The erotic studio and blue ice are both in discrete areas . Which is probably why they've stayed open for as long as they have

Havent got a clue what or where libra suana is/was, but studio 189 Is on the hagley rd and most of those business are in high rise buildings/tower blocks you also have a free masons lodge there, a few 4/5 star hotels morrisons and spearmint rhinos cant see any of those being muslim owned

This comment reminds me of the last time that I visited one of those Chinese shops in Erdington, maybe around six years ago, in a new house on an estate built on an old hospital site. A couple of Her Majesty's finest burst into the bedroom, just after I'd brought a good session with a couple of Chinese girls to a close (no sooner, I'm happy to say). Apparently, a neighbour or two had complained about parking, etc. I was given a written Suspected Anti-Social Behaviour caution and sent on my way. Strangely, for routine reasons, I've had CRB checks since, and this caution has never shown up. As I say, I never returned. In any case, the quality of service was becoming variable.

I thought this place shut down in July, when it was Pleasuredome.

It was just too close to a pub and the row of shops next door. The road was very busy. When it went, Linzi took off on tour and some of the girls ended up in Leicester.

They got complaints and I was not surprised. You just cant have knocking shops next to businesses which are that busy.

Lisa's Sauna was the middle of Small Heath in a Muslim area. When I used to walk in I'd get dirty looks from the believers who were just everywhere. I couldn't care less. If it wasn't for Lisa's I would not be seen within 3 miles of the dump. Lisa's was a worn out but clean, well house kept parlour with friendly staff and £80 an hour rates. Girls were very hit and miss though.

The other city centre parlours are more discreet. Take Blue Ice for example where you can just slip in on a quiet street.

What has changed now?  The pub and other businesses have always been there. I had my second ever punt at the old "Burbank Massage Studios" almost 30 years ago. The Chinese resturaunt downstairs has not chaged only the bank on the corner went and became a bookies. There could not be any parking issues, as the main road and traffic lights preclude parking.The venue used to be accesed via a set of stairs leading to the first floor. I am aware the Burbank was once raided, but that I believe was due to suspected drug dealing on the premises.

Lucy's Sauna was based on a predominantly asian/muslim road in a predominately asian area. Lets be honest, who didn't see that one coming sooner or later?
Studio 189 however, was raided after complaints from local residents and businesses that kerb crawling was on the increase again. The Apollo hotel (Hagley Road) car park became the latest place Romanian prossies had chosen to ply their trade. The police cracked down on all prostitution in the area - including the brothel (which was also raided a couple of months ago and reopened as studio 189 again!).

That's funny...I've been to parties where there's often some Asian guys...obviously I can't tell which religion they are, but the organiser said they notice the numbers are down during Ramadan! So, perhaps Mr Khan does punt!

I don't understand the whole notion of 'raiding' these parlours unless there is clear evidence that women are being 'trafficked' from the EU and other countries. My nearest 'parlour', Manyana in Selly Oak has been operating for years. It now has a discreet entrance to the rear, and on the face of it, looks like an 'adult' bookshop from the front, close to a bus stop. Selly Oak also has a number of other brothels, 'First Class' and 'Pennys' that have also been open for many years and are right in the heart of University locations. Aren't they licensed with the City Council? Perhaps they, in some agreement with the police allow them to operate within certain criteria. I've no idea what that criteria is, but I do deplore the idea of women being forced into prostitution by traffickers and/or vile, controlling pimps. If this is the case I would fully endorse any raid on the premises.
