Can someone please explain to me why black prostitutes are routinely referred to as being 'ebony'. I can't think of another area of life where this would be considered acceptable.

If I referred to a black woman in my office as being ebony, I would in all likelihood end up being physically assaulted and then dismissed.  Possibly not in that order.

Doesn't it all seem a little bit slave trade.  They may as well be called Nubian Goddesses or mystical warrior women from deep within the African continent.

Why aren't they just called black?

I don't see the big deal myself. If they refer to themselves as ebony, then surely you are just being offended on their behalf?  :unknown:

They only have themselves to blame, I've just done a search on AW & found 600+ profiles where they describe themselves as ebony.

Sometimes this political correctness malarkey is a bloody minefield  :(

Offline GalaxyMan

So, a WASP (or other 'White' skin variations) should now be called 'Ivory'.

Mind, Ivory isn't PC these days, unless dyed pink......

I'm not being offended at all.

I'm just curious why it seems to be uniquely in this business where it is used as a descriptive term.  It just seems odd and anachronistic to me.

Is it considered a turn on by anyone?

I should also point out that I watched Django Unchained last night, so it's probably on my mind..... :)

I guess they think it makes them sound more exotic and desirable? Agree it's pretty silly really

Ok, not offended then, but you find it unacceptable  :unknown:

The use of Ebony doesn't turn me on, but it can be useful in a search criteria when looking for a black wg, especially when ethnicity hasn't been specified as Black or Black British.

Offline dubs

It's just marketing speak, like "BBW" for obese women.

I think ebony is supposed add appeal, whereas BBW is surely a warning

Offline akauya

Would that be the equivalent of an English prossie calling herself Anglo Saxon babe/princess or something like that?

Why are you insisting on stating things I've not said, or trying to put words in my mouth?  This is the second time you have done this.  I have not said that I find it unacceptable, or that I am offended.

OP - your user name explains a lot!

I thought that it had nothing to do with colour at all. Rather it is because ebony is one of the most dense, heavy woods and the majority of the black pro$$ies that I have met have been overweight and thick as fuck. :sarcastic:

Sorry, I must have mis-interpreted your opening post. I assumed you were referring to yourself (and others).

Dunno, but "ebony" sounds sexier. I used to think BBW meant "big black woman"  :D

Really? I always thought black women were in this game for amart reasons, rather than just because they "enjoy" sex and cba to work for a living. I have also never met black women whom were dummies. Maybe i haven't met enough to gage their intelligence levels though.

Some advertise themselves as ebony so that's up to them, I assume its to make themselves sound more exotic to punters than saying they are black.

Why aren't they just called black?

Because ebony sounds more sexy I suppose.    :unknown:

In 35 years I have never been with a black pro$$ie and I never would ------------------ I do fancy Indian girls though.    :hi:

just a marketing term that crosses over from the porn industry.... same as 'bbw' I suppose

Offline unclepokey

I worked in the Bahamas for a while and had two black girlfriends (not simultaneously) whilst there. This is why to this day I still lust after slim, sexy black girls. But then I lust after all women who offer me the possibility of sexual pleasure.

It is something that is rare, highly valued and sought after.

It's also quite dense and difficult to work with  :D

Agreed, and for me it's the least offensive term. Others may disagree.

You want to try it JRC. I had m first last week which added an extra dimension to the punt.

Potentially? Definitely prickly I would say

I quite enjoy putting my ivory in the ebony.

It's punting, most of the stuff you read on AW you couldn't get away with in an office so using ebony in this instance, it's not so bad.

Spot on.  In the US there is a magazine called Ebony that caters to the black market, sorry, African American market.  I think ebony is actually high-PC and has the advantage (in the context of adult entertainment) to cover, with one word, African Americans and African Caribbeans, and of course African Africans.

From Ebony Magazine's website: "Ebony has been the general interest magazine of choice for intelligent, sophisticated Black-American readers since 1945. Its timely articles and smart photography explore education, history and entertainment, the arts, health, sports and social events."

You're choosing the wrong ones then. I've only seen slim ones and they've all been good.

We have women of colour, writers of colour, only a matter of time before someone calls them whores of colour...

What a load of bullshit.  :dash:

Yeah thats my take. OP is seriously overthinking this.

To me ebony is rich and delicious and definitely makes me think negro black rather than Indian black.

Its just a term, and very useful IMHO.
