I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I've spoken to some guys in the building trade who won't deal with Asians because 'They agree a price, I do the work, and then they haggle when it's time to pay ... or they want extra work done without paying the extra cost'.
I am dealing with two Clients just now in construction projects who are Asian and this is exactly the problem I am having with them. Unfortunately I am in an industry where payment is made in stages after stages of work have been completed.
The job with the first Client is finished and he has been billed up to date including for a load of work outwith our original remit, which we have email evidence between me and him that as it was extra it would be charged on a per time engaged basis. The last bill remains unsettled with full justification being sought by the Client for all extra costs, these were all detailed on the invoice making reference to emails agreeing the additional works.
The first bill on the second job was submitted and paid, albeit less the VAT, which he claims was an oversight, however we are still waiting for it.
To counter balance this, I find that many in the construction industry are acting similarly these days, they don't want to pay for anything.
