A relative newbie to punting and have just seen two WG (though a couple of times each!) mainly down to distance and work. I have seen some WG's I would like to visit but probably a bit close to home. I was wondering how others approach distance, i.e. Do people punt in their proverbial backyard!

I have tended to combine punting with work and have avoided anywhere near home. Now retired but enjoy a 70 mile round trip to see my regular.

I don't, but that's due to what's available where I live. I don't have a wife/girlfriend to worry about catching me out so if there was a WG close to home that took my fancy it wouldn't stop me.

I purposely put my regulars at some distance. I love to travel and it's a way of seeing parts of Blighty I would never have a seen otherwise. I also search for WGs who I think I will enjoy and I can't let distance influence my decision. Its pot luck really but they are spread from Humber to Portsmouth and I wouldn't swap any of them for six local girls.

For the record, if I need a local shag I use 'available today' and pretty much see anyone who will do oral, RO and a mish/doggy.

I like punting close to home as long as its at least a couple of streets away, I had a great regular now gone sadly for a while who was very local, I walked and it was great.

Depends what you mean by back yard and depending where you live that could be very different things. I have a regular who's in the same postcode area as me and seen another from that postcode. Both are about three miles away but I feel safe enough.

Depends on where you live IMO. In Central London I can walk out of a meeting and after a few minutes travel I feel completely anonymous. If I lived and was punting in a small town or in a rural county I think it's more likely someone I know might see me enter or leaving a known knocking shop, even if it was miles away from home.

I punt locally with foreign wgs within three miles of my house. They move on after two weeks, and some times return after a few months. This means the only thing to worry about is being seen too often around the flat. Even then who's going to say anything?
If in Central London then there's no worries, any questions I just say I had a trip to a museum. I much prefer nipping out to punt when the urge hits, rather than planning an appointment in London.

I'd be more wary if the punting was near a friend or colleages house.

I cannot tell you how much I'd love to punt closer to home but although I live in London it is south east and a bit of a wasteland. To me too close to home would mean potentially bumping into them when doing the weekly shop and I might risk that for the right WG but I consider anything less than an hour away quite local and I have struggled to find anyone that close that I fancy.

It's context... there's a place next (not a parlour) next to my local where you'll be offered HE after a massage. Wouldn't consider that. But from my office window I can see a block of flats where quite a few well-reviewed WGs work from. I'd consider that as you're a bit more anonymous in a city centre.

Farthest I've been on a punt is about half an hour driving, that's if you don't count a 9 hour flight to Florida on a business trip!! My regular is literally 5 minutes from me in the car and it is so convenient and she is so good to me, that I haven't seen anyone else for a couple of months now. Not only is she close, meaning an hour punt is just that and she is on my way home from work, so is very convenient if I'm "working late". Wouldn't travel more than about 45 minutes for any punt; but never say never

I did once see a girl near where I lived. Then one day literally bumped into the girl at Asda, we were both pretended like we were friends seeing each other. Luckily I was on my own.

Now that I have moved I make sure that I don't see anyone near or in close towns to where I live. Lesson learnt well

For me it would be murphys law, guaranteed if I saw a local girl, no matter how unlikely, I would bump into her while shopping with the missus in Tesco. I just know it.

Generally I like to stick to a rule of for hotel touring girls then local is ok, but fixed location girls I tend to travel a bit for. The flaws in this are that I occasionally get worried at being on first name terms with local hotel staff (! - not quite happened yet), or someone I know working in a hotel (ditto). The other flaw being the slim chance a fixed location girl only works in another area but lives in yours.

Occasionally, and not so much now, the little man has led me to a local girl, and is not ideal. I did run into a poor one a month later in a local supermarket.....whilst "accompanied" - I remind the little man of this when he is making poor requests/choices....

I travel a lot so it's very easy to see quite a variety on the road. I have done a few local and have never felt truly comfortable as i wouldn't know what say if i got the old "so and so saw your car today , where were you then ?" from the wife. I'd really have to make up some bullshit excuse at that point.

I'm getting fed up with weaving elaborate cover stories for the times I've disappeared on a punt, particularly as an hour or two of that time is travel time. I'm therefore on brink of booking a girl a mile away who lives next to gym I visit 2/3 times a week..... I can easily substitute a gym session for an hour with her once a month and nobody would be any the wiser. I'll probably burn more flab too!

I'm unable to get out of the house of an evening, unless the Mrs is away (rare) and the kids aren't at home (rarer), so tend to punt near work at lunchtimes. So kinda local but not on my doorstep. Fortunately I work in a city centre so it's fairly anonymous, and work nowhere near the other half.

I work on a one hour drive scenario, in any direction.

The local lasses I see are 6 miles from base.

What ragards to punting in my back garden, my home town is devoid of prossies, which is maybe a good thing as if there was a good un in town I'd be sorely tempted

No way for me, gotta be a good 20 miles away, Im in the local rag quite a bit and the fear of one of the WGs seeing me is too dodgy
also me turning up for a punt and seeing ones of my lads girlfriends/mates at the door...nah (even tho Id do a better job than him/them)

I punt wherever there is a decent escort that strikes my fancy. The furthest I have been for a punt is Newcastle. I don't punt in hometown or my home region (East Midlands), as I find it to be an absolute punting desert.

As I travel to various cities for punts, I always book leave from work so to free myself for the punt itself and travelling to it by train.
