Author Topic: The Ashley Madison news has scared me! An AdultWork hack? Removing info  (Read 5711 times)

The hack was due to the fact everyone one on AM is cheating that's is business model. That's what the hackers were supposed to be doing it for. Probably not, but equally what about POF, people are on there for sex and use real details etc so everyone who has ever done an Internet search for anything sex related is open to be hacked.

afaik there was no judgement by the hackers on the what consenting adults were using the site for (they just don't care about collateral damage in the form of cheaters).

The moral issue was AM taking payment to delete accounts and then keeping the details. The hackers stated motivation was to totally fuck up the chance that AM would make millions from the planned stock flotation for this shitty behaviour.

Forget Ashley Madison and AW; just think of the panic among these ranks if the Hackers should turn their attention to UK Punting.

+1 yep.

The reasons the AM hackers did what they did are totally irrelevant.  It is just as feasible that someone would hack AW, even if it were for totally different reasons - could be an entirely different group of people who decide to do it.

There are plenty of people out there who think that anyone who visits a WG is scum and deserves to be mercilessly exposed and have their lives destroyed.  That's a reason that someone might decide to hack AW and release a list of members.

As I said above, I'm not really concerned for myself about what would happen if AW were hacked; but I think it's ridiculous to claim it wouldn't happen.

I'm  bricking  it a little.

as with  many of you I use fake name phone and email but I signed  up to AM to see what  it was  all about and almost got some where but distance was an issue. My worry was the only way  to  pay was with CC and I put a private  profile  pic up (otherwise you get ignored)

On AW I used a CC years ago but since only use UK CASH  paid in cash!

Still  worried  nonetheless.

You mean the anti prostitution gang could have that at top of their list to hack.  With the backing of their fictional gods and trying to force their fucked up morality in to other peoples bed rooms.

I know everyone's situation is different.

I signed up for AM years ago just to browse and have imaginary affairs in my mind. Cost me nothing and all they got out of me was my punter email which by the way is on the file, I checked.

When I realised it wasn't an affair I wanted but just a fuck, I discovered AW via a one time agency escort punt (great girl, massive tits). My details on AW are the same as AM but I have used my CC to purchase credits and won't ever again.

Am I worried, yes and no. I like my life just as it is, in excess of 30 fucks a year with some fucking amazing women. If somehow my CC details were exposed and it got back to the missus I could have an ugly time of it. But once a punter, always a punter, no matter what I will never go back.

Couldn't.... literally.

Interesting read. At the start of my punting journey, so doing a lot of reading before progressing. I had a relatively harmless episode in 2010 where a client put my photo onto one of their bits of e-literature that was posted online. I kicked up a stink... however, it took months for them to take it down as they didn't know how. From that day forward I became extra vigilant to anything going up on the net.

Picking up on some of this thread regarding AW functionality, how much extra do you get before you need to provide CC details? I wanted to consider a RB in the future.

Many thanks.

I don't think its the service that's limited. You buy credits and pay for what you want. The main use of a CC is for age verification so they know you are 18+. Not sure its foolproof. Beyond that a CC merely buys credits as far as I can tell.

. . . My details on AW are the same as AM but I have used my CC to purchase credits and won't ever again.

Strongly urge you, HW, to change, if you have not already, all your AW details, particularly password, since these are now in the public domain via the AM hack.

This applies to anyone who has used the same decoy profile details on AM as AW. It may be advisable to get a new punting email address, because, if used on AM, it will probably become the target for spam and scam in the coming months.

Password changed good sir.

Never thought about AW email being same as AM. I'll work on that as well. Time I had an exclusive AW email anyway.

not a lot I can do about the CC except be vigilant.

Always pays to have different log on and passwords for UKP, AW, etc as it provides damage limitation if one of them should be compromised.

Bro..  call your bank and tell them you lost your credit card. They will cancel your current credit card ( so no one can use it.. in person or online)
and the bank sends you a new card within a week.. (usually this is free of charge...)

All my details on AW are fake, bar my credit card.

I just tried logging on to AW to remove my credit card details, but cannot find how to do this. No obvious place or link.

Does anyone know how I can remove my credit card details on AW ? Thanks.

I don't think you can, the only way is a delete of card and new replacement. I'm in same boat so don't feel alone in this  :D

It will always be on a list, you knew the risk and still had to see that PG though.

I've topped up my credits on Adultwork a few times, just a fiver, to pay for the occasional private gallery. Bit peed off when it shows up as "Awork" on the subsequent bank/card statement........ Would have thought they'd be a bit more discreet and use an anonymous holding or parent company name like "Shyster Media Chisellers". Luckily I use an old and seldom used account to make the payments so its not too irksome for me.

How much of what is said about an AW hack or an AM hack would apply to a UKP hack? Apart from credit cards we are sitting on a time bomb.

Now Mr Pleasures, I've just googled your name and apparently you once banged someone in Peterborough. Seriously if anyone has personal data on UKP I think you'd already have featured in your local rag.

Don't panic Captain Mainwaring.

I wish this would do it, but it might not. AW uses an external website to process payments, which is good, for it is they who have the real name and address. However, it is possible and usual for internet merchants to ask the payment processor to send back the name and address to the main website for purposes of filling in shopping carts so the shopper does not have to enter his / her details all over again.

I like many others used my credit card to purchase credits to put on RBs (and what a fucking waste of time that was) and if AW get hacked, they may well have my real name and address. Then again, there is a chance they may not (if they don't request the name and address data), so fingers crossed. Also, if AW was hacked, it might not be as big as the AM hack - look at the AdultFriendFinder hack which story was reported but quickly died, even though x million brits were on the database. Anyway, I'm just trying to calm myself here with conjecture so I'm going to shut the fuck up and contemplate my stupidity in using a CC in silence.

True.. better to avoid using CC and use pre paid vouchers like ukash.. you pay money in cash in a local convenience shop and get a voucher; enter that voucher code in AW to get credits....  :hi:
