Unless your work makes you stay in extremely cheap hotels (hostel or cheap B&B type) there are the big budget chains like Ibis, Premier Inn, Days Inn (if you have to) which usually do double rooms for single occupancy at a reasonable rate. Many hotels only have double rooms these days anyway.
The other option is to do your research on the local ladies before you book your hotel, then book a hotel which is close to a lady you want to visit. I've stayed in many big cities in the UK, in city centre hotels, and been within walking distance of a wg (within a half hour walk, at the most).
