Can anyone recommend a good punt that is within walking   distance of central station?

Is there any particular reason why it has to be close to the central station?

I'd recommend:

1. Diamonds Quayside West + Newcastle Quayside flats are around 700m from the central station. See Antonia:

2. These 2 are ~1km from the central station:

3. Tori Taylor is around 1.5km from the central station:

He's probably travelling to Newcastle by train and wants a convenient punt. Like me.

In that case I'd suggest he considers using the metro as well. He can get on at the central station and it will open up his options tremendously.

For example, NNE's Gateshead flat is around 5 minutes walk from Gateshead Stadium metro station (which in turn is a 5 minute metro journey from the central station). See Carla:

How long is the walk from Eldon Square to the quayside?

How long is the walk from Eldon Square to the quayside?

Just did a google distance check on Google maps. Its 913 meters from Northumberland Street's main entrance to Eldon Square to the Quayside. [Thats just over half a mile]

That sounds a lot but looking it says its literally 200m from New Bridge Street to Northumberland Street entrance and that is nothing.

Just did another check and from the Central Station to Northumlerland Street main entrance to Eldon Square is 810 meters.

diamonds quayside and quayside west only a few hundred yards away. You have some suggestions, I'll add mine, Morgan of diamonds , personal favorite of mine, great lass, and good at what she does, I'd book in advance though.

From the central station; Quayside and Quayside west, and also Gateshead and Gateshead Quayside are all about 10mins brisk to at most 15 mins slow walk from there.

Whenever I booked any of the above locations. I drove part of the way and then got the bus to the central station and done this above walk.

If you are going to Newcastle Quayside from the Central Station just turn left and go up from there past the Center for life. If you are going to Gateshead, or Gateshead Quayside, turn right and go down from there to the high level bridge. Walk across it and you are pretty much there for both.

There's even a bus that runs from Newcastle Central Station to the Quayside and then it crosses the Swing Bridge to Gateshead. It's yellow in colour and the number is Q1.

And for the old codgers amongst you lot there's the added bonus that it accepts bus passes.

Life couldn't be easier.
