Anyone visiting Bangkok for the first time will be spoilt for choice with hotels, there are hundreds to choose from but which one is best. ??
Obviously it depends on your budget, you can find a room for £10 or £150+ but I find that £40 will get a suitable room in a good location, I can recommend this hotel called Dynasty Inn Grande, it is girl friendly and the location is perfect being very near to the Nana Plaza complex and a five minute walk to the Skytrain. The staff are friendly with a good standard of English, free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms.
They often have promotions, at the moment you pay full rate for the first night and get 10% discount on any further nights if you book via the internet.

Spot on - I prefer to pay more for a better hotel (a case where paying more generally gets better quality).  I have always found the Majestic Grande good but it is £60 a night.  One advanatge of being a regular there is that free up-grades are generally available if you talk nicely.
The great advantage of any hotel in or off Sukhumvit is easy access to the Airport.  Incidently I can't be b*gg*r*d about Airport taxi savings.  Go to the official taxi stand and get a metered taxi with the certainty that the driver has been told where to go.  Saving a couple of bucks by chasing up to the departures level is crap.

I agree but Thailand is noted for penny pinchers, picking up a cab from departures level saves you £1, hardly worth the effort.

Last time I stayed at Majestic Grande I wanted to extend my stay but they refused to honour the rate I had paid through Asia rooms, they wanted the full rack rate, I told them to poke it.

Just checked it out, seems to be about £29 a night including tax, I assume you only get a shower cubicle and not a bath. It is a relatively new hotel with a good location, minutes from Nana Plaza complex.

A bathtub is not essential, I notice they have in-room safes, TV and Fridge.

.

A bath tub may not be eseential but you can have a lot more fun in one than in a shower.
Otherwise I agree with your priorities plus free wi-fi.
The 'fridge is of course filled from the nearest convenience store and not replenished by the hotel.

I assume you mean Dynasty Inn as opposed to Dynasty Grande, the former is much older however when I stayed there for a few days I had one of the refurbished rooms.

I have, the newest of the Dynasty hotels on Soi 4, similar rates to Dynasty Grande but the cheapest rooms only have a shower, no bathtub --------------- all are girl friendly but they do charge a fee if you are into two girls at once, something like 500 baht.

After 25+ trips the novelty of shagging just anything has worn off, I fully expect to go many days before I find a suitable candidate, if she speaks more than six words of English that will be a bonus.  ;) ;)

Thanks --------- but I don't really do massage parlours in Bangkok, I prefer bars such as Golden Beer Bar at the front of Nana Hotel, you can "interview" the girls without any obligation apart from a ladydrink.   :drinks:

Offline Wayang

Actually you don't have to rush in and you can have your lady drink at the bar - and go ahead or not as you please at Annies.  You just have to make it clear o the boss that this is what you want to do.  I chose Nicola after rejecting the boss' advice.
I like the fact that with massage parlours, as long as you stay in charge you don't have to go to a S/T hotel or back to your own base.

Fair comment but I much prefer bars because it gives you the illusion that you are chatting them up, of course I realise that they are still prostitutes, it is all in the mind.
