I think it depends. I was for years one of those who occasionally phoned a WG but never fixed a punt- because I was crippled by guilt about my marriage. A decade later, no sex for over 18 months, the guilt has waned but my needs haven't, so I now do meet WGs and frankly think I am a better husband and father for not spending my entire life frustrated.
I also know that if my wife had expressed the remotest interest in sex more than 4-5 times a year I would never have taken it any further.
