This has always been my experience of Smiths, both here, and years gone by on PN, and he's always been a mate to me.
A real asset to this forum, and an example to some who make a lot more noise but contribute nothing.

In brief I have been punting since the 80s and until the invent of punting forums I punted totally in the dark knowing no other punters. After joining another punting forum I started to meet other punters and share info with them and on the forum.

I semi-retired in 2008 and spent a year then partying a lot at LMP, probably the highlight of my punting, a really fantastic year of sheer indulgence. In August 2010 I was jaded and cream crackered so took 6 months off punting though I did punt a few times, and didn't post or read the punting forum i was on. I returned in February 2011 to find big changes. Many had left that forum and Steve told me about this forum which I then joined.

I am fortunate i can punt when i wish but i do want VFM as i see it as i do outside punting usually.

Your no-nonsense advice on another forum certainly helped me when I started punting and I appreciated your patient forebearance when I made some newbie errors.

When I first started posting on this forum around 6 months ago I didn't regard smiths as much of a reviewer since at that time he had only 7 reviews though he had been registered on the forum for 3 and half years, I just marked him down as another of the pundits I bumped into at that time.

Then shortly after that altercation he started reviewing prolifically in the last 6 months he has reviewed 93 times.

I always wondered what made him change his approach on UK Punting so drastically since that time. 

and an example to some who make a lot more noise but contribute nothing.

Agreed a great example to some of the other noise making London punters on here.

And Jason is another he doesn't review as much but his Quality is Way above anyone elses on UK Punting.

No I wasn't as I was on a 6 month punting break at the time only joining  UKP upon my return in February 2011 when I asked Steve where a number of punters had gone from posting on another forum.

So UKP was set up by a few of the punters at the start and aimed at more a punter site rather then a mixed site with the escorts and paid adverts which can go against the point of a punters site I take it.

It has really grown in to a huge network, I only found it by accident on google and found it interesting reading.

While I do give credit to his scientific methodologies, that's a very subjective opinion. But hey, don't let that stop you from proclaiming the punting knighthoods, O self-appointed "king of the North West". 

Anyway, not here to detract from smiths('s?) party so ...
