how do I totally erase my account?

this community is getting old and stale and want to leave.

Offline Upsndowns79

Give it another 18 days and your wish to leave will be granted.

It’s ironic you say the community is stale when your contribution to this community has been fuck all for nearly a decade.

Given you are only typed up three reviews and all of them being years ago now, maybe it is the likes of you that is cause this site to become "stale" as you put it.

On another point, if you're based in Scotland then you can expect it to be more "stale" than the rest of the UK.  :unknown:

What more do you really want. This site is fine I'd say.  :unknown:

You can't and it won't happen
From the rules:

Quote
8 Account deletion
Do not post-resignation posts to announce you are leaving. Just log out, and don't be a drama queen.

9 Post deletion
That is not possible unless you accidentally include too much personal info.

10 Review deletion
That is impossible, as the notice on the review creation page made clear.

If you want to leave, just stop posting. You're on a ban countdown anyway

You've given me a chuckle today: the irony of someone, who's contributed just one or two posts and not a single review in nearly a decade, expressing their (mistaken) belief in this community becoming old and stale.

   :dash:

How will the site survive?

He seems to be based in Scotland. With the way things are in Scotland, he may still be searching for his next sp years after his last review anyway  :D

From a gdpr perspective though. If one wants data deleted is it allowed usually.
But just sign out, forget about site and simples your not seeing it

Sadly there's a lot of truth in what you say, the scene up here is pretty awful, can't see it improving very much in the near future.   :(

postings are anonymous, there's no proof of identity so no way of linking posts to real identities. I can't see GDPR being a problem

Under the Privacy Policy you have rights re personal data which would relate to some of your account information. However as you say the data is anonymous etc. Possibly you could ask for an email address to be removed?

https://www.ukpunting.com/?action=privacy

However the content of your posts does not apply. When you register there is a User Licence transferring the content of your posts to UKP

You think the punting scene in Scotland is more stale than it is in Wales and Northern Ireland

it seems like sp's go where there are more punters around, which is why many choose the big cities such as London and Manchester  :unknown:

Dave would you consider punters paying a fee for account deletion?

Dave would you consider punters paying a fee for account deletion?

He is only fed up with this site because he was put on a banned countdown due to lack of reviews.

Any recommendations?

What's the rate there?

Not my choice mate, I only enforce the rules the site owner sets, that sort of decision would be down to him.

Why would I want to ask him, I'm happy with the rules as they are.  :unknown:

Everything is made very clear when signing up, you have to scroll through the rules on the sign-up page and the User Licence transferring content to UKP is there to be read. If you don't agree don't sign up.

No I didn’t know, I thought Dave was in charge.
A lot of people have the misconception that I have more authority than I actually have. First and foremost I'm a member like any other and have to abide by the same rules as anyone else. It just so happens that I'm also a moderator who is tasked, along with the other mods, with ensuring the site runs in the way the site owner wants it run.

The site owner decides the rules, mods just point them out and enforce them.

You've been here since 2013, one of the oldest members yet you thought Davie was "in charge"?

I’d definitely consider it. All punters can send me £50 and I promise to do everything within my power to delete their posts and accounts!

the mods job is to make sure the rules are applied. If you had a temp ban before then maybe you deserved it at the time.
I have been temp banned once before. It is not the worst thing, if anything it sends a reminder to follow the rules.
The worst thing is to be permanently banned which rarely happens now days as I think the temp bans seem to work.

Whatever the mods do is done on behalf of Head1, the site owner. Every action a mod takes is recorded for other mods, admin and site owner to see.

Quite often a banning is a joint decision but only one mod can actually implement the ban.

What do you suggest UKP does to stop it being stale?

What do you think of the idea that the site encourages members who don't contribute, to contribute by giving them a 30 day period to make amends? Hence keeping the site fresh and up to date.

Other than that, what else can the site do to encourage members that don't contribute, to contribute, and therefore keep the site fresh for you?

We get one of these every few months and usually throws up something amusing

This time its that DM makes the rules rather than just enforces them

I suppose Mods are like  site policemen - perhaps DM will show up on the Geordie Coppers TV show or more old fashioned like Dixon of Dock Green administering a few well deserved clips round the ear
