Been following this with interest all day. Appears someone at MN made an error and posted some AI code to reply to one of its members forum posts  :D

What on Earth is the world coming to?! Are Head1 and daviemac real people or just robots out there somewhere?! 🤖

I was thinking the same. Maybe a clue could be found in the time of day the OP posted?   :drinks:

Looks like something in his first link has been picked up by the auto-censor and automatically changed to 'not allowed', he's been here long enough to know better.

The second link is out of date.

Yes the story involves a certain website notorious for its attitude towards 'hubbies' and punting.

I worked it out when the op mentioned MN.  So I substituted the site URL for the censored bit and it took me to the topic on the site.

Having tried to read that thread I'm still non the wiser about the subject.

Hi all,

Apologies I didnt realise the link was going to be auto censored as I've not seen anything about "that" website not being allowed on here before.

As soon as I posted it and saw all the auto censoring I reported it to mods to be removed as thought it might be against site rules.

**

The second link isnt out of date. It's a Guardian article posted yesterday about the same that highlighted this to me.

Basically a member of MN was seemingly given a response via AI about a sensitive subject. The staff have all come out and promised they don't use AI to reply to posts but no one believes them.

It also transpires MN is sending drafted responses (before you click Post or Comment) to OpenAI raising data and privacy concerns. So whilst you are typing anything in a text box its being sent to another company which might inlclude names or sensitive data before being removed.

A quick Google search will explain all if you're interested lol

Exactly what I saw  :unknown:

The page is still live, but because the web address has been censored when accessed from UKP you get the Guardian 'page not found' because there is a typo in the web address as it says in the message  :hi:

I cannot type the name of said website under discussion but if you want to see the article just google 'Guardian Ai news' and it will come up in your news feed. Not sure it is really worth reading though :D

The link was changed... for the very reason you first posted about. The part of the URL that says "not-allowed" due to the website being censored...

Why try to bypass what has been auto-censored and post this?

It was censored for a reason.
